Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs a rubber bushing This item has a nice finish...well made. It has one big problem though. The metal is so smooth that the camera tends to spin itself loose. I've always wondered why the photographic industry has never come up with a better way to attach cameras to tripods, one that's more secure. Right now I have two small strips of duct tape attached to the plate, in between the plate and the camera. I am looking for some rubber material that's thin enough and that I can use a paper punch to put a nice clean hole into it. You'll notice host all the other brands have a rubber pad attached.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works perfectly with Gitzo D Profile Quick-Release heads I've set up most of my cameras and lenses with this plate, and use a Gitzo Quick-Release ball head. The plate comes with an Allen key for mounting to camera and lens. I find the hex key the only way to get enough torque for a solid mount. Note that the Gitzo Standard D Profile plate is slightly narrower than some comparable plates on the market, so I recommend its use only with the Gitzo quick-release heads. Check first before using it with other brands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gitzo Quick Release Plate I always need an extra release plate, Why you do also. I shoot for NG and in some very remote areas. When I dropped a screw down a 2,000 foot granite wall of a mountain, I was not getting it back. Having an extra release plate enables you to have one on your second camera if you are fortunate enough to have one for quick len and camera changes on your tripod. The other is for lost or broken parts like a screw when your shooting Grizzly and you have a very heavy lens and oh no, it's gone, Well, I always carry a spare. The investment is not huge, the pay off is great.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Slippage As two other reviewers have mentioned, there can be slippage of the camera, even after you've used the provided Allen wrench for tightening. Dislike the smooth metal design and the rather shallow screw. Bring back a cork surface, or found a rubber, etc., variant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Accessory The plate that came with my Gitzo tripod and ballhead combo was a smaller size plate, this larger one seems to give my gripped camera with large lenses more balance and security. assesory

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect spare to stay on lens Bought a spare just to keep on my big lens and be able to quickly swap out lenses. One stays on the bottom of my camera while the other is on my 70-200 lens. Life just go so much easier!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spins The build quality is excellent but my big lenses (i.e. 70-200 2.8) start to spin on the plate as I try to move my monoball. Looking for an alternative with a rubberized surface...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gitzo Quick Release Plate Great plates that do the job, never come loose even when camera is at 90 deg. You can't go wrong with Gitzo.
