Arca-Swiss X-Table Reviews

Great tool!

Gears are smooth and work great. I've paired this with a D4 head and Arca-Swiss L-bracket. Love working with horizontal and vertical scales. It took me a bit to find the center of everything, but once I did it was fantastic. Things I wish were better. A scale on the bottom rail to more easily and consistently align the placement of the table in the tripod head. The bubble level seems a bit off as I pan the head. I leveled the tripod head and the bubble level would show things moving off level as I panned dead center. It took me putting a level on it to prove the bubble on the x-table was off. Still a great tool to have in the bag!

Very high quality but there was a minor problem

The slight problem was that one end of the rack tracks was loose and could be raised up with ease. I considering reparing it myself but thought at this price I should not have to do this. Besides, I would have had to use glue on a metal track. I sent it back for an exchange.

question

Can I remove the top clamp and replace it with a normal classic arca swiss clamp plate?
Asked by: Bret
While no reports of doing this have been made and we cannot test it, it is our opinion that the Arca-Swiss MonoballFix Quickset Device that is on top and which holds the quick release plate that it should be easily removable.

Can the second rail be removed when not needed?
Asked by: Louis
You actually can remove the second rail and turn it into a linear (not X) variant. For that you’ll need to remove both carriers from rails and put the top carries to the lower rail (rail that is taller and that is attached to Monoball clamp on your tripod).

Do you stock the "Classic" version? Is there an advantage to the Microball mount?
Asked by: Louis
I'm sorry but we do not carry the classic version, just the monoballfix. If you mean monoballfix, no there are just different mount systems and the monoball fix is only proprietary to Arca Swiss.

question

What camera plate is required to mount my camera onto this system?
Asked by: Robert
While you do not list which camera you own, the Sirui TY-50E Quick Release Plate, B&H # SISUTY50E, would be a universal camera plate that would work for your needs.

question

Will this take any arca type plate (like the 3 Legged Thing QR4-EQ Quick Release Plate B&H # 3LQR4 MFR # QR4) or does it need a monoballfix camera plate?
Asked by: Miguel
An Arca-Swiss plate would be guaranteed to fit https://bhpho.to/2OB7pbP. A Arca compatible plate would most likely fit but can't be guaranteed.
