Varavon B-12V 7412 overview

  • 1Description

Varavon's rechargeable T Power 7412 Lithium-Ion Battery can power a camera or other accessories with either 7.5 or 12 volts of DC power, while maintaining a small and light form factor. A switch on the top of the battery dictates the voltage supplied. Using appropriate, separately available connector adapters, the T Power 7412 is directly compatible with the Sony a7 series of mirrorless cameras as well as the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera in 7.5V mode, and it is compatible with the 12V Varavon Birdycam in 12V mode. The T Power 7412's 5,200 mAH capacity is much larger than the native battery systems on the Sony and BlackMagic cameras, allowing it to power them for a longer period of time. Battery level can be monitored using the built-in status lights.

    Varavon B-12V 7412 reviews

    T Power 7412 Lithium-Ion Battery is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Battery For All My Devices The great thing about this battery is that it is compatible with just about all of the popular cameras out there: GH4, A7s, Blackmagic Pocket/Cinema, etc. The blackmagics can plug right in while the Mirrorless and DSLR cameras need a coupler as most stills camera do not have AC power. The hardest part about buying into a new battery system is that it has to be compatible with all my gear across the board and luckily this battery can do just that. I discovered this battery when I bought the Varavon Birdycam 2 and now I use it with all my other gear I seriously can't be more pleased with this battery. With a capacity of 10,400 mah I really don't have to worry about battery life anymore the size and weight is more flat than tall and flat like the other high capacity batteries, which i think is great since I can get the additional rod clamp battery holder and mount it vertically to save space if need be. The battery has a nice rubbery grip outer layer that makes it easier to handle when on set along with an outside battery indicator to let you know it's current state. All in all I think this price and compatibility make this battery a safe bet when looking to power all of your gear and accessories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient I've been able to power the BMPCC for around 4-5 hours. After shooting all day with one and purchasing another BMPCC, I went a head and bought another TPower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit Birdycam II clip You would think that a product from Varavon would actually fit the intended product it is supposed to work with. I bought this pack as a back-up to the 7412 that came with my Birdycam II. I was very disappointed to discover that when it came, it was a completely different design and that it didn't even fit the battery clip on the Birdycam II. The button design is also completely different, and now, instead of a simple flip of a switch to power on and off, you have to hold down a button for 5 seconds to power it on or off. This is a huge pain if you have the Birdycam II in hand and want to power it up or down quickly. Also, with the one I received, it keeps resetting to 7.5v instead of staying at 12v which means I have to hold down the voltage selection when I power up. Very annoying and renders this useless for me for my Birdycam. Poor design, and poor foresight by Varavon to not check if their redesigned products even fit or work with their own gear. Also, I don't think it outputs a solid 12v. I think it is actually sending more than 12v as when I do plug it in to my Birdycam, the motors whine and act as if they are being over-driven, which is not the case with my stock 7412. Again, a sign of cheap, poor electronics. My experience with Varavon has been poor overall. Terrible customer service when my Birdycam bricked and had to be reset. I had to comb over several blogs to finally get the answers from a third party on how to resolve it. Also, I bought a hard case to replace the cheap soft case. The hard case came with the foam inserts for the soft case--they're not the same size, so the foam insert was poorly fitted to the case and to this day does not work very well. Overall, this company has bad customer service and sub-par products. Save the money and go with DJI.
