question

What is it made of?
Asked by: Anonymous
This is Makerbot's PLA material. PLA is a sugar based plastic; Polylactide (PLA) is a semi-crystalline polymer that is derived from (mostly) corn sugars corn. Many of the Makerbot printers also use an ABS type plastic (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene; a thermo polymer), but the heating head need to accommodate a different melting point.Either of these types of filament are meant for the FDM extrusion style 3D printers.
