The silver Evolution EVO 50A V2 from Creek is a high-resolution power amplifier with a full featured preamp section offering multiple inputs, electronic balance & tone controls, and a wireless IR remote. The amplifier is capable of driving 8 ohm speakers with 55W of power and 4 ohm speakers at 85W of power.
The amplifier uses a pair of Sanken 15A bi-polar transistor circuits with very high open-loop gain and low distortion. This circuit features built-in thermal compensation offering rapid bias tracking performance and a very low output impedance, capable of producing high output currents with exceptional speed and control. The power supply uses a massive 250W toroidal mains transformer with separate windings for low and high current analog and digital circuitry. By using several low impedance capacitors together, an ultra-high specification capacitor is created to smooth the DC and produce a very powerful and accurate sound.
There are five sets of inputs on the rear of the unit, each offering stereo RCA connections with input 4 also offering balanced XLR inputs. Additionally, input 1 can be configured with an optional Sequel plug-in phono pre-amp for connecting a turntable. Inputs 3 and 4 offer a "Direct A/V" setting, which bypasses the internal pre-amp and volume control when creating a multi-channel AV system. Input 5 features a "Smart-Slot," which may be fitted with the optional plug-in AMBIT analog AM/FM radio tuner or the RUBY, an optional plug-in DAC with SPDIF, TOSLINK, USB, Bluetooth, and FM Radio inputs. The pre-amp output replicates the internal power amplifier section which includes all preamp controls and may be used to drive a suitable pair of loudspeakers or to connect an active sub-woofer.
Remote Input/Output connections are offered for connecting additional EVO 50 range products, such as the Evolution 50CD DAC/CD/Pre-amp, which elevates the performance to an even higher level. The EVO 50A ships with an IR wireless remote and an IEC power cable.
