    FotodioX THUMB-GRIP-B reviews

Pro Thumb Grip for Select Compact Digital Cameras - Type-B (Black) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the Fuji X100 perfectly. I did not realize that there was a difference in the size (height) of hot shoes. It slid into the X100 as if it was made for it. The hot shoe of my Leica M6 TTL was not tall enough to slide it in. The fit and finish of the grip is very very good. If you were to compare the size of this to a known brand for thumb grips, it would be equal to their long version on the X100.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from If it had fit perfectly out of the box, 5 stars As I had to spend all of 10 minutes filing the top section a bit thinner, I'm giving it 4 stars. BUT, on my Panasonic GX7, GX1, and even on my old LX3 which I still use at times, it adds a level of grip support that I really like. Fortunately I had a very small file that was perfect for this. The base plate thickness is not an issue, it's just the width of the top section rubbing against the top L channel on the hot shoe. It's now going in and out firmly, but it's fine. I don't advise forcing this in and out if it's tight on your camera, aluminum will snap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits like a glove The FotodioX pro thumb grip fits like a glove on my fuji x100s, very happy B&H has it in stock cause the one from Fuji is way to expensive.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK for limited situations This thumb grip is solid, both is its construction and how it attaches to my Fuji X-Pro2. It's supposed to make it easier to hold the camera and shoot one-handed and as such would be very useful for street photography where you basically use a fixed exposure setting. However, I found it a little awkward when using it in situations where I'm frequently changing the shutter speed or ISO since it somewhat blocks rear access to the shutter speed/ISO dial. It's quite inexpensive so it's will be very useful in some limited photo situations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why didn't I think of that??!! I use this device on my Fujifilm X Pro 1 and I think it is a valuable aid to holding the camera steady especially if you have big hands. Without it, I kept pressing the quick menu and playback buttons accidentally. I think it pays homage to some of the old 35mm cameras with film advance levers. When used in conjunction with a shoulder sling strap, it allows you to use your thumb to keep the camera in position for rapid deployment, and steadies your grip on the camera at eye level. When I selected this unit, I had a few to choose from. The first was made by fuji and went for about $... a little steep I dare say. Another one was much cheaper but was held in with a set screw. I'm a little leery of tightening screws into the hot shoe on my camera! The Foto Diox was the way to go. It slides snugly into the hot shoe mount on top and seems to have no play in it. The only down side to it is that you must remove it when you attach a speed light to the camera. I think this is a worthwhile investment; one of those items you might saywhat do I need one of these for?,but once you have used it you ask how you got along without it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from price is right, worth trying thought I'd like this and help make holding my fuji x100t, turned out i didn't like it. but for $ it was worth trying. I ended up losing shortly after purchase, or i would have given it a 2nd try.if you think this will help you, then price is much better than the other similar options. I found the position to be too far to the left to help add any grip for me. not sure if the significantly more expensive options have a different thumb position. I think ultimately the thicker grip would work better for me - to make it resemble the sony nex 6 grip i was used to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Problem Solved Although this did not fit the hot shoe slot on the Panasonic DMC gX-8 - I fortunately had been alerted to this possibility by another reviewer. Sure enough I had to spend about ten minutes filing down the sides for it to slip into the shoe. And it was still tight. However once in it does solve a significant problem - that not hitting the display button on the gX-8. That is most of the time. But it is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT compared to not having it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from X-e2 thumb grip It is easy to hold x-e2 by one hand (especially for people with big hands) but it becomes difficult to use shutter speed and exposure comp dials with your thumb. If it was a little bit shorter, i would recommend it.
