I'm assuming you set up your lighting around the outside of the box and the lights penetrate through the box? Never used one before.
That is correct. The fabric material used with the Impact Digital Light Shed - Jumbo (47 x 47 x 47") is translucent and designed to both transmit and soften light. You would set the light outside the light tent, shining the light onto the exterior fabric, and the fabric diffuses the light, providing soft, even lighting on the subject inside the tent. You can control the light by varying the distance between the light and the softbox.

Would you recommend this product for very small items? What's the smallest item you would recommend shooting in this shooting tent?
This particular size is VERY large, so for small items I think it would not be optimal. I would go for a smaller size. You'll have better control over the light, too. We bought this tent to shoot large trophies.

Can this item be used outside using natural daylight?Thank you!
Can't see why not.I have only used it for indoors (it is big and light so could move around in the wind) but it works fine with ambient office lighting and no addition light source.
