The HAP-Z1ES Hi-Res Audio Player from Sony comes with a built-in 1TB hard to store all your favorite digital music tracks in almost every file format, from PCM to DSD. The player a 4.3" display for interacting with the user interface and displaying track metadata. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA ports are provided to connect the HAP-Z1ES to any amplifier, and a USB port lets you expand upon the built-in storage or rip CDs directly to the internal storage. HAP Music Transfer software, available for Windows and Mac computers, lets you use the unit's built-in Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and gigabit Ethernet to easily transfer music from your computer. A remote control, Ethernet cable, and stereo RCA cable are supplied to get you connected.

High-Resolution Audio takes your digital music to another level. By converting analog music to digital at a higher rate than CDs-24 bit/192 kHz, as opposed to the 16-bit/44.1 kHz rate of CDs-High-Resolution Audio delivers sound quality better than CDs, so you get closer to the original studio master recording.

DSD Remastering Engine
The HDD Audio Player's built-in DSD remastering engine converts your digital music files to DSD audio, so you can enjoy every track in Hi-Res Audio that delivers better than CD quality sound.
Single Place for Storage
The player features plenty of storage capacity for all of your favorite tracks (smooth operation guaranteed up to 20,000 tracks) with 1TB of internal storage. If you need additional capacity, you may expand externally using external storage (sold separately) and the USB input.
Frequency Response Restored with DSEE
Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology works in two ways to deliver natural sound with a spacious feel. The first enhances compressed file sound quality by revitalizing the high-frequency signals that are normally truncated during the compression process. The end-result is an accurate and spacious audio experience. Second, it revitalizes your favorite compressed and uncompressed music files by retrieving the waveform tail. In doing so, audio response remains more coherent and full-bodied, with a smooth finish.
Connections
Connect the HAP-Z1ES to an amplifier noise-free via the balanced stereo XLR inputs or the unbalanced stereo RCA jacks. An IR output allows for connecting the included IR blaster. The gigabit LAN port provides for a hard-wire connection to your PC for uploading files, and USB allows for expanding storage capacity via an external drive.
Wired or Wireless File Transfer
Install the HAP Music Transfer software on your Mac or Windows computer and transfer audio files to the HAP-Z1ES player via Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) or gigabit Ethernet. Whenever you add new music to your collection, the player automatically copies the files from your PC to the on-board hard drive via LAN or Wi-Fi connection.
Dedicated Software Control
Download the dedicated HDD Audio Remote App to control your listening experience. Create playlists, search stored music, and enjoy full track control. Compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, you can easily select and play your music.
Online Database
By cross-referencing your music collection with the Gracenote online database, the Hi-Res Audio Player makes sure that artist names and track titles are always up to date. The player also automatically adds song titles when you add music, so you'll never be confronted by unnamed mystery tracks.
Two Large-Capacity Separate Twin Transformers
For analog and digital circuits, powerful transformers are used individually. The transformers are treated with impregnation in a vacuum. In a power block, the analog and digital circuits are strictly separated. This setup can remove some adverse effect from digital noise.
ES Frame and Beam Chassis
The FB chassis, composed of a frame and beams offers both high-precision mounting of parts and high rigidity, achieving a high-fidelity sound field carrying large amounts of information. Notably, the base is composed of two plates of differing thickness that provide sturdy support for the chassis. There are two additional base plates beneath the transformers as well, offering robust reinforcement that anchors the transformers firmly in place.
