If I wake up before the alarm can I cancel the alarm (meaning that it will not go off at the intended time today but will be set to go off tomorrow) or do I have to move the slider to the off position?

How do i set the alarm?
slide the top rear left button to the middle position , then use the two buttons next to the one that slides to move time up,and down. You can tell the alarm is on by an icon that appears on the upper left of the display. When you wake up, you silence the alarm with the small button on the middle row in front of the slider. The benefit of this is that the alarm remains in for the next day so you don't forget to turn it on. The downside is that little silence button is hard to find in the dark when half asleep. And don't forget to slide the alarm go off on Friday night!

How do you set regular time on this clock?
I found it complicated, but there is a plus button and minus on back of clock. A time set button to start adjustment, causes flashing on number to adjust. The set time would revert to another time when time set button was hit to end adjustment. So I just kept cycling through till I got it to right time (World Time most likely).Sorry that is all I know.
