Gitzo GT3532 overview

  • 1Description

The GT3532 Mountaineer Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Gitzo features Carbon eXact tubing, which includes High Modulus carbon fiber in the lower leg sections, adding to their diameters and making the tripod more rigid and stronger than its predecessor. The GT3532 has a load capacity of 46.3 lb, extends to a maximum height of 63.4", and folds down to 25.2" for transport.

The center column on the tripod can be removed for Ground Level Set, which enables the tripod to reach its lowest height of 6.3". Its three-section legs are secured with twist locks that incorporate G-lock Ultra, which has an internal O-ring to prevent dust and particles from entering the leg system. The top spider has been redesigned to add rigidity, and large leg angle selectors give you more area to grip when readjusting leg angles. A ballast hook on the center column allows you to add weight to increase the tripod's stability.

    Gitzo GT3532 reviews

GT3532 Mountaineer Series 3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Tripod Ever This is by far the best Tripod I've ever purchased. In the past 6 years I have had 5 different tripods, and I'm happy to say this one I'm keeping. I use it for city and landscape photography and it works great for both. Its light enough to carry for hours in the outdoors and hiking up and down mountains, and the twist locks legs are great compared to the clamp locks that I always had sand and dirt collecting in them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I absolutely LOVE this tripod. This tripod was recommended to me by a professional photographer friend and I have yet to regret the purchase. It is much sturdier than my old aluminum one, holds just shy of 3 times the weight and is even a little lighter despite being larger, but still a decent weight. I use it for landscape photography, it's very easy to set up with the twist locks, I don't think I could ever use a clamp lock system again, it's light and easy to carry, and the carbon legs don't get nearly as cold as aluminum either! Most importantly, the tripod is incredibly sturdy, even with only the rubber feet, I believe they have spike attachments for when you really want to stay put. I haven't found any cons whatsoever with these legs, I truly don't see myself having to replace it for a long time, unless I decided to get a smaller travel tripod. The photo attached below was made possible by this tripod because of it's reversible center column. I was able to hang my camera upside down just a few inches over the water for a pretty unique photo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new GO TO tripod You are using $ work of gear. Why would you use a $ tripod? For a tripod you need a sturdy one that won't tip over and ruin your gear, and you need a steady one that does not shake at the lightest gust, thus degrading that image for your $ worth of gear. The Gitzo 3-series represents the best value in their entire line. It's sturdy and steady enough for all by the heaviest loads, and lightweight enough for all but the most extreme of hiking. This is the only tripod I use now for the gear that I have and intend to purchase in the foreseeable future. I shoot macro, low light, landscape and a little wildlife. The heaviest load I intend to use is the Sigma 150-600mm and a gimbal head. For my use, I like the Mountaineer series because I like to hang my backpack on the center column or remove the column when I need to go low for macro shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tripod I use the tripod for a 4x5 view camera. Light weight, solid on the ground, easy to expand the legs and screw locks are tight without having to force it. easy to carry. Great product. Minimal gizmos on it and it works beautifully, smoothly, solid on the ground with legs at different heights and a heavy camera. Stays steady. Well worth the investment if you intend to do this for a long time or as a professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful piece of equipment I love this tripod, and have paired it with an Arca Swiss Z1 bullhead by Wimberly along with the Wimberly Sidekick. I love the functionality of this setup. The only complaint that I might have, and this is based on only having used it once, is that the extension/retraction of the legs is a little cumbersome. I believe that I am just not accustomed to it, however. I would be interested in hearing other opinions. Overall, very happy with the purchase and definitely with B & H service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Great Tripods For years, I purchased less expensive tripods and was new happy. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. It took me awhile to get use to twisting the locks on and off, but now it is second nature to me. It is light, strong, and stable. I was fortunate to buy this while Gitzo was offering a rebate. Of course I wish it was cheaper; however, that the nature of photography. It is worth the expense and I could of saved more than half it I bought it in the beginning. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does everything Gitzo says I have had a Gitzo GT1227 MK2 for about 10 years. It is still a good tripod. The GT3532 is sturdier, it takes just a couple seconds to remove the center extension tube so that I can get down to about 6, the legs do not turn when I am trying to lock position resulting in faster set-up and take-down, and the top spider has been redesigned making it easier to use.
