What is the difference between gt2542 and gt3542 ...
What is the difference between gt2542 and gt3542 tripods?
The series 3 tripods are stronger and support more weight. The gt2542 goes two inches taller when fully opened. Gitzo GT3542 weighs a bit more because the legs are thicker and stronger but it does fold almost an inch smaller than the Gitzo GT2542.

question
I plan on getting a nikon 600mm f4 & need a tripod that can handle it. This tripod is rated 46.3 lbs payload, more than three times the lense & 800e. The legs are very stable. Is my thinking correct?? Thank you, David Stanfill
I have the Nikon 400mm 2.8 and this Gitzo GT3542L Mountaineer can handle it.

question
Does the Gitzo Center Column Bubble Level GLEVEL1 or GLEVEL2 fit on this tripod, too? I can't find any specific bubble level for series 3.Thank you, Philip
No, sorry neither will fit on a 3 series gitzo. If you need a bubble level, I would recommend one that attaches to the hotshoe of your camera.

question
Why does is this tripod (GT3542L) better priced than other Gitzo's? (At $689 this seems a bargain compared to many similar models that have lower load specs or don't hit the 70 mark. This one seems a fit to me - just want to assure I'm getting Gitzo quality).
I recently purchased this tripod and had the same questions. This is a great tripod and I havent had any problems with it, it is a Gitzo through and through. I have used it for studio and location shoots and nothing wrong with it. The regular price is about 1000 but it goes on sale every once in a while.

question
Trying to compare the Gitzo GT3542L & the GT2543L to some of the CF tripods from Induro. Anybody care to give me your 2 Cents?
When you see them side by side you'll but the Gitzo,I was real close to buying the Induro head though but settled on the Kirk BH-1

question
Is this tripod sturdy enough for a Nikon 600/4 VR mounted on a full Wimberley (WH-200)?
If you found my name associated with the purchase of this tripod, then the answer is yes. I purchased this with a full Wimberley and have trusted this set up with my Nikon 600/4 VR. I have complete confidence with the strength and ease of use with my big lens mounted on this. I cannot imagine anything better.
