I was looking for a better compass to use when aligning my telescope mount, especially for daytime solar photography. It works very well and seems more consistent than the more economical model that I have. It is very easy to read, and the declination setting is really secure compared to others. The only downside is that it is quite a bit more sensitive to nearby magnetic fields. I have to use it in my right hand because I wear my watch on my left wrist. For comparison, my old compass didn't seem to care too much. It's very nice, just keep in mind which wrist your watch is on. :)
