question

Has anyone tried this with a 60 umbrella/modifier/octabox?
Asked by: samuel p.
The Dot Line RPS Studio CooLED 200 Studio light is one of the brightest LED lights. It is a single light source. Meaning unlike a lite panel that comprises of many LED this is just one large led light and this one has the equivalent of a 1600 watt hot light. With a 60 inch umbrella it is very good but note, that in general LED lights have the shortest fall off. So if you are bouncing in to an umbrella you are increasing the distance so it will produce less light say a hot light.

question

Can I use this with a Soft Lighter if the fan base is on the exterior side of the modifier?
Asked by: samuel p.
Not sure what you mean by Soft Lighter. But, I use this light with a Westcott soft box with a Bowens adapter ring. I have three of these lights as well as three Westcott studio strobes. Depending on the lighting needs, still or video, I switch out the LEDs and Stobes because of the compatible Bowens adapter rings on the soft boxes. I like the color temperature of the RPS because it is similar to the Westcott strobes. Makes editing much easier. I did a lot of research on LEDs and the RPS brand was the best I could find at an affordable price. Great product. Good luck.

question

Is it compatible with european power supply? Is it flicker free? How loud is the fan?
Asked by: peter e.
Hi Peter,I'm not sure about the european power, you should see if they could send you that. It is flicker free, however, the fan is rather loud. On several occasions I had sound guys complain to me about the noise. Its fine if you are placing it far away or in the other room, however, it will be too loud to be a few metres away from the mic. The fan is more quite when you dim the light.
