The ELC Pro HD 500 Flash Head from Elinchrom is evidence of the company's continued commitment to pushing the envelope in monolight design. Elinchrom has packed the ELC Pro HD 500 with professional features we've come to expect from a flash head of this caliber and added quite a bit more. Short recycling times coupled with fast flash durations make freeze-motion, stop-action shooting possible. In fact, up to 20 frames per second is possible at minimum power. An intelligent low noise, temperature-activated fan keeps the head cool and lengthens the life of both the flash tube and modeling lamp. A pre-flash detector lets you integrate your on-camera flash into your studio system.

How to keep the Modeling Light on continuously ...

How to keep the Modeling Light on continuously for the Elinchrom ELC Pro HD 500?
Asked by: Ronald Revell
To turn on the modeling lamp, you would press the button that looks like an image of the sun on the right-hand side of the back of the light fixture. By pressing the button, you can scroll through the options <OFF>, <FREE>, which would allow you to to set the modeling lamp output to whichever setting you prefer, and <PROP>, which would set the output of the modeling lamp proportional to the output of the flash tube. The modeling lamp is designed to shut off momentarily when you trigger the strobe. However, it can be set to also dim temporarily when the flash is triggered, then return to full output power if you have <VFC> (Visual Flash Confirmation) set on the monolight. Also note that the modeling lamp is designed to switch off automatically at high internal temperatures due to the modeling light's overheat protection function. After cooling off, the halogen modeling lamp will switch back on automatically. Do note that this is a strobe unit, not a continuous light fixture

question

Can these be used with hi sync with the skyport HS?
Asked by: Michael
Hi,The ELC 500 is not optimized for Hi Sync imaging. Please see the Elinchrom site under Skyport Plus HS to learn which heads will work more effectively. <a href= http://www.elinchrom.com/support/ELSP-HS.html target= _blank >http://www.elinchrom.com/support/ELSP-HS.html</a>The D-Lite 4 head which is also available in a kit is great for Hi-Sync imaging.https://<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=EL20487.1&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&typedValue=&Top+Nav-Search= target= _blank >www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=EL20487.1&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&typedValue=&Top+Nav-Search=</a>Kit: https://<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=EL20839.2&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&typedValue=&Top+Nav-Search= target= _blank >www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=EL20839.2&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&typedValue=&Top+Nav-Search=</a>Regards,Will

question

Will the ELC Pro HD 500 work with the Skyport Speed Transmitter?
Asked by: Michael
It will fire and adjust the flash, but the Pro HD 500 is not optimized for Hi-Sync because of its very short flash durations.

question

Since they call this flash a moonlight, is there a battery inside that charges so that the unit can function unplugged?
Asked by: David L.
Hi, The Elinchrom ELC 500 is a monolight/monobloc or compact unit which runs off AC power. In order to work off a battery you may want to look at the Godox LP800X.https://<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1186033-REG/elinchrom_lp800x_godox_portable_power_inverter.html target= _blank >www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1186033-REG/elinchrom_lp800x_godox_portable_power_inverter.html</a>I hope this helps.Regards,Will H
