The ACUR004A ServSwitch KVM (4 x VGA/PS/2) over 4 CATx Extender Remote Unit by Black Box is used in conjunction with a ServSwitch local hub unit to receive 4 video channels and PS/2 keyboard & mouse signals from a CPU located up to 985' away. Up to four monitors can be connected to the remote unit. Four CATx (CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6) twisted-pair cables are plugged into the unit on the front panel via four interconnect ports. The first port receives primary video and data signals, and the other ports additional video signals. All RJ-45 ports are surge protected. The ACUR004A receiver features a built-in skew-compensator.
The receiver's skew-compensator removes color drift by delaying some color signals to compensate for differences in wire pairs. Skew compensation works with all colors transmitted, resulting in a maximum compensation of 42ns, which is sufficient for most applications. Independent low-frequency and high-frequency equalization adjustment enables you to fine-tune the video to match your cable type. Video tuning and configuration can be done by entering simple commands on the keyboard attached to the receiver. Preset modes help you find the right image balance, and the "quick skew" feature facilitates fast video tuning. All settings can be stored in EEPROM memory.
Because the receiver performs full PS/2 keyboard and mouse emulation, you can boot the PC without having a keyboard or mouse attached to the local unit. The receiver is compatible with Microsoft IntelliMouse and other wheel mice. The video capabilities of your ServSwitch extender hub can be enhanced with skew compensation by replacing its remote unit with an ACUR004A standalone-receiver. ServSwitch KVM extender hubs compatible with the ACUR004A include the ACU1006RA, ACU1012RA & ACU1006DRA.
