Black Box IC282A Overview

The 2-Port USB 1.1/2.0 CAT5 Extender Kit from Black Box includes a transmitter and receiver along with a 6' USB 2.0 cable for transmitter to host computer connection. It extends USB 1.0 or 2.0 signals over a CAT5 cable to remote USB devices. The extender supports both full-speed (12 Mb/s) and low-speed (1.5 Mb/s) throughput. The receiver has two downstream USB type (A) ports for plugging in USB 1.1 or 2.0 devices. This extender supports 130' extensions over non-networked CAT5 cabling and 278' for low-speed Human Interface Devices (HID) such as keyboards and mice.

With the CAT5 cable, you can extend connections to USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice, interactive whiteboards, and other devices without the need for external power adapters. The extender's transmitter receives power from the host computer, making it suitable for extensions in industrial control, sensor, or data acquisition applications where you are short on power outlets. The extender supplies up to 400 mA to USB devices and has industrial rated Electrostatic Discharge/Electrically Fast Transient (ESD/EFT) immunity.

This device does not require any software to your system or target devices. Simply attach the transmitter to your computer's USB port, plug in the CAT5 cable, attach the remote USB peripheral to the receiver, and start working. It works with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems.
