bx_rockrack PRO from Brainworx is a guitar amplifier simulation plug-in featuring seven distinct units, including two new jazz models. Although by some standards the choice of amplifiers may seem low, there is no redundancy here. What is provided are authentic and accurate emulations that do justice to the various sources.

The software is easy to use - just select a speaker and adjust EQ and gain on the amplifier, and play. There is also the choice of removing the speaker from the chain if other speaker emulation software is used. The noise gate has been improved. Finally, the plug-in can be used in live situations by taking an audio feed from the computer and re-amplifying through a real amp and speaker combination.

The bx_saturator from Brainworx is an M/S and multi-band saturation plug-in suitable for mastering, mixing, and sound-design. It offers a warm and subtle distortion on individual signals but can also be applied to the stereo master channel using the M/S stereo model. Dedicated crossover technology ensures that the mid and side channels are always perfectly in phase.

Uses include increasing the perceived volume of mixes without clipping them, or bringing out certain signals like acoustic guitars and percussion in full mixes without increasing actual levels or applying EQ to them. Distort vocals in full mixes without adversely affecting the drums or the clarity of keyboard sounds and stereo guitars. Thirty presets are provided for getting started straight away.

The bx_shredspread from Brainworx is stereo processor plug-in for use on stereo guitar subgroups or stereo guitar channels with the main purpose of making sure the stereo (doubled) guitars sound wide and full, with as little effort as possible. Doubled guitar tracks will benefit most from the auto-correcting features and the "SHRED-filter" of the plug-in, but the software will work on conventional stereo guitar sounds and stereo samples as well.

Using M/S technology, the software provides control over panning, stereo width and the tone of stereo guitar tracks/groups, while automatically avoiding the typical phase problems that can occur when using M/S processing. Although mainly created for guitars, the plug-in can also be used on keyboard groups, organs, choirs, etc.

bx_stereomaker from Brainworx is frequency-optimized Mid/Side (M/S) up-mixing tool for vocal, guitar, loop, synthesizer, or effects tracks recorded in mono. The plug-in can be used for most mono sources and creates a pseudo stereo effect that is perfect for situations where widening a source with reverb or chorus won't do, but where the signal needs to be spread out.

Usage is especially useful for today's "tight" pop mixes where focus mustn't be lost. The software creates a virtual side (S) signal with analog style filters using advanced processing and the virtual side can be soloed as can the dry mid (M), non-spatial signal. Additionally, it's possible to balance the center of the stereo signal while paying attention to its frequency range.

The mpressor from elysia is a native based plug-in that closely emulates the company's hardware creative compressor. The original's all discrete circuitry and special characters have been translated into software in great detail, delivering a universal compressor as well as a dynamic effects machine.

Functions include Auto Fast that makes life easy even on longer attack settings and the Anti Log feature offers an alternative release curve that can be engaged for instant pumping effects. In addition to standard ratios, the plug-in also provides negative values.

The gain reduction limiter regulates the virtual control voltage and keeps even the most extreme settings under control and the additional filter is a perfect for changing the sound character of the compressed signal. An external sidechain input adds further flexibility.

All the major plug-in formats are supported for both 32- and 64-bit operating systems.
