RigWheels RailDolly
Key Features
  • Large Camera Slider/Dolly
  • For Round, Square, or Rectangular Track
  • Silent Operation
  • Two Kinds of Wheels with Abec 7 Bearings
Flexibility and ease of use are at the heart of Rig Wheel's Rail Dolly a multi-function camera slider/dolly. The heart of the rail dolly is the RigWheels RigPlate, which is a superellipse (square with inwardly curved sides) shaped metal plate that features 1/4", 3/8", and 5/16" through holes. The pre-drilled through holes allow you to mount a variety of optional accessories directly to the plate. The RailDolly glides silently on round, square, or rectangular track, riding on semi-soft skate wheels that incorporate ABEC 7 rated precision bearings.

question

What is the max weight capacity on this?
Asked by: Lopati
I would say 100lbs is a nice safe limit. However, the manufacturer has tested 200 lbs without issue. At that kind of weight, do be cognizant of the support rail strength and mounting.

question

Can I put my tripod on here?
Asked by: Anonymous
I'm afraid not. This dolly is very compact, it is not wide enough for a tripod. However it does have a 3/8 -16 threaded hole in the center for mounting flat base tripod heads, such as the Manfrotto 502HD (B&H #MAMVH502AH). If you are looking for an option that will work with a tripod you may want to look at the Glide Gear SYL-960 Floor/Track Hybrid Tripod Dolly (B&H #GLSYL960) and their Straight Track option (B&H #GLSYL101).

question

Hi, Please let me know if this kit comes with a rail or should I buy them separately ? In the accessory recommendation,I do not see a rails, giving an impression that it is a package except for the camera. Please clarify.
Asked by: Sivakumar D.
The RigWheels RailDolly needs only for you to supply round, (1 to 2 / 2.54 to 5.1 cm) square, or rectangular pipe in order to get going. (Plus a tripod head and camera of course.) Please see the following link for how it all goes together. http://bit.ly/1MrapKc

Yes. You can also add some stand-offs to lower the camera further underneath the carriage if there are any clearance issues.
