Oben STB-10 Overview

  • 1Description

This Tripod Hammock from Oben attaches to your tripod's legs via hook-and-loop fasteners. It holds up to 20 lb, lowering the center of gravity and adding stability when using a heavy camera and lens, or when shooting in windy conditions. It can also be used as a shelf to store accessories that you need quick access to like lens caps, filters, or lenses.

    Oben STB-10 Reviews

Tripod Hammock is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as practical and useful as hoped I had intended to use this hammock on a full-size camera tripod, to put accessories in and also to weigh it down and stabilize it when taking longer exposures. In practice, though, the product fell short. The fasteners are just velcro strips, and they do not cinch tightly around the tripod leg (a cinch like on backpack straps would've been better). They just slide down the tripod leg until they come to the joint, so I cannot place it at any height I want. Though it seems well made, it seems too big and awkward on the tripod and just gets in the way. At least it wasn't too expensive!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Helpful Little Helper The plastic materials, front, back and the trimmings of the Oben STB-10 are pretty strong. I put one vegetable tie, the red wire, with each Velcro tie to make sure the ties came with the unit stay secured tied to the tripod legs. Make sure it is not too big for your tripod when open. I have not used any other tripod aprons. I believe this is a very good product for the price paid. I agree that Velcro ties are not the best if you want to put the lenses or any breakables on the apron. Other than that, the apron deserves a 5 star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Steady I bought this product to help me photograph a Super Moon Eclipse, and I am glad I did. I was in a remote area to document this rare occurrence, and I wasn't going to leave anything to chance. That night the wind picked up as the sun made it's way down. No problem- I simply attached this handy device to my tripod and loaded it with rocks. It gave me the shake-free performance I needed to take long exposures. A must for anyone who shoots outside!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great dual purpose item for tripod As my headline describes I have found the Oben tripod hammock serves two purposes and does so impeccably. I often shoot wildlife with an Oben tripod with my Sony A7rII and a Sony 70-400mm lens. I virtually always have an additional lens or two (usually my Carl Zeiss 135mm f1.8 and a Carl Zeiss 500mm f1.4) and often find myself trying to figure out where to put the additional two lenses when the ground is wet or dusty/dirty. I use the hammock as a shelf for storage of the lenses as well as my reading glasses which I use to view the display. The additional weight of the two lenses is about 4 pounds and provides additional stability of the tripod (especially useful when its windy) which is in fact the intended primary function of the hammock. I find using the hammock in this way beats having to carry around a 5 pound sandbag for stability. Furthermore with the hammock mounted on the legs of the tripod I find that the tripod can be fully closed which means you do not have to re-attach or remove it at any time. The price of these conveniences is dirt cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built tripod hammock This hammock is well built with tough and flexible materials. I am guessing it will support 10 lbs. easily, if you want to use it for tripod ballast. I use it for camera gear, not ballast. It's great for that second lens, or gloves, or extra whatevers. If I need ballast, I generally just hang my camera bag off the tripod. Unfortunately, you can't do both at the same time. It attaches to the tripod legs with tough Velcro straps that come on and off very easily, but once on, won't pull off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neat product - Functional Now I have a place to park headphones, spare batteries, mints, etc.. Acts like a spreader too. For the pricepoint it's a great product. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Tripod Hammock I ordered this tripod hammock at the last moment getting ready for the Great American Eclipse. I didn't want to be fumbling around for the solar filter when removing and replacing it for the moment of totality. This turned out to be a great purchase. It not only did just what I needed for the immediate use, but was sturdily constructed to be used as a stone bag should I need added weight as tripod stabilization.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great as weight and organizer I bought this hammock to use with my Dolica tripod, on which I mounted an easel box for outdoor painting. I put a couple of small sandbags, a large water bottle, and paper towels in the hammock. I have been on location with this setup when the winds were gusting to 20-30 MPH, and it provided excellent stability. The Velcro straps adjust to differ positions on the tripod legs, so I can set up with a lower or higher perspective. The hammock itself is large, sturdy, and holds quite a bit. Very pleased with the result. Great price.
