The SDC12 12-Channel Basic DMX Controller by Elation Professional is a 12-channel, portable DMX controller which features 3-pin and 5-pin XLR DMX outputs, a master dimmer fader, and six faders which control channels 1-6 and 7-12. Elation Professional SDC12 Overview

The SDC12 12-Channel Basic DMX Controller by Elation Professional is a 12-channel, portable DMX controller which features 3-pin and 5-pin XLR DMX outputs, a master dimmer fader, and six faders which control channels 1-6 and 7-12. The DMX controller can be powered either by the included 12 VDC power supply or by a standard 9 VDC battery (not included). It can be used as a portable, handheld device or wall mounted for permanent installation.

I was quite surprised to see that this dimmer would not restore the DMX outputs to any channel when re-powered up without playing with each channel slider to wake that channel. I also found the connected fixtures alter their color temperatures if other channels are adjusted!

I have tested with just the only dmx light I ...

I have tested with just the only dmx light I have--it works but ony using the #1 slider--can't seem to assign the light to another slider. I'll be getting more dmx lights, so how can I assign lights to the other sliders? (If adjust the light itself to channel 2, I can still only control it with the #1 slider, and I didn't have any luck messing with the dip switches on the controller--I didn't fully understand their explanation of the switches.)

If you set the light's DMX address to one more than the address of the controller then it'll be able to be dimmed with slider #2. Set the light to two more than the address of the controller and you can use slider #3 to adjust it, and so on.

Will this work with wireless dmx modules? They tend to have 1 transmitter and multiple receivers.

New to DMX and their related equipment. The specs for the Elation says it has 1 master dimmer fader and 6 faders. I have 5 LED panels and I want to control each one separately for brightness and color temp. I believe that means I need 10 faders - right? Does that mean I would need two Elation Controllers? Is there another simple/basic option that would allow me to support all of my LED panels via one DMX controller? I don't need fancy programming or preset options.

No. The following unit offers six faders which control channels 1-6 and 7-12.

The Elation Professional SDC12 12-Channel Basic DMX Controller can control color. It is only 12 channels. It is limited but that and the amount of channels your light needs.
