Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 Fisheye II Overview

The black, Sony E-mount Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II is a prime fisheye lens specifically designed for APS-C sized image sensors. Providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 12mm and full 180° angle of view, this lens is well-suited for creative applications as well as interior and architectural subjects. Its fast f/2.8 maximum aperture is further beneficial to working in low-light conditions.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, the lens' design features a built-in lens hood and a UMC coating has been applied to the lens elements to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery.

180° fisheye lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 12mm, making it ideally suited for interior and architectural subjects.
Fast f/2.8 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions.

when I first put on my xh2 the shutter would not work. you need to go into the menu select shoot without lens and everything was fine.

Easy to use, as long as you remember to check for your fingers at the edges of the frame (ha ha). On my Fujifilm X-T3, I set the camera to function with no lens attached, as this lens does not share data with the camera. No worries about lack of autofocus; just set a distance of about 3 feet and everything is sharp. Manual f/stop setting also works out fine. It's small and easy to carry and fun to use. No downside except the lack of EXIF data, which would be nice but not necessary. At this price, who cares.

Does this produce a full circular image on Sony ...

Does this produce a full circular image on Sony FF cameras or does the circle crop at top and bottom?

This lens only covers a Super 35mm or APS-C sized sensor. It will not cover the sensor on a Full Frame Sony camera, the camera will need to be set to a Cropped Mode.

Yes, you may use the Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II Lens for Sony E Mount on the Sony Alpha a7 Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, do note that while this is designed for the Sony E-mount, the above fisheye lens is designed for use on Sony cameras that use the APS-C 1.5x cropped sensor. As the Sony a7 uses a full-frame sensor, you would have to use the lens in the APS-C Size Capture Mode, which is located in the camera's menu under Menu Custom Settings (symbol of a sprocket) APS-C Size Capture. When set to ON , it would capture an APS-C size equivalent sensor picture using the Rokinon lens (do note this will reduce the maximum captured resolution from 24 megapixels to 10 megapixels, as it is cropping the full-frame sensor to the size of an APS-C sensor). You may choose to set this to OFF to use the full sensor, but this would result in a larger black vignette around the edge of the image where the APS-C lens' smaller imaging circle blocks light from exposing the outer pixels on the full-frame sensor. (The above applies to all APS-C lenses used on a full-frame Sony digital camera.)

Yes, the Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II Lens for Sony E (Black) is compatible with the Sony A6100. It is a manual focus and manual exposure only lens.

As this lens is designed for APS-C size sensors, it would not vignette on a super 35mm camera. Super 35 and APS-C are practically the same size.

What do the 12mm equivalence for full frame mode mean? What is the angle of view in that case? 122 degrees?

The Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II Lens for Sony E (Black) is a lens made for APS-C size sensors. Meaning it is for a cropped camera, which is apprxoimehtly 1.5 times. The lens then in 35mm equivalent and how it works on a camera is 12mm. The angel of view is still 180 degrees.
