Key Features
- Extend USB 2.0 over CAT5/CAT5e/CAT6
- Range of up to 164'
- Easy to Install, No Software Required
- Compact Design
The USB 2.0 BoostLinq Ethernet Extender from IOGEAR allows you to use your USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 device from up to 164 feet away while still maintaining USB 2.0 data transfer speeds. The BoostLinq converts the USB 2.0 connection to RJ-45 LAN, which allows the signal to travel over a CAT5, CAT5e, or a CAT6 cable. The peak data transfer rates of USB 2.0 are maintained with a unique signal booster chipset that preserves both the data and the voltage requirement to power USB 2.0 devices, such as webcams, hard drives, and more. These active repeaters ensure both transmit and receive signals are preserved over the full length of the cable, resulting in maximum performance for all peripherals and accessories.

Can this be used with a USB hub? In particular, a USB 3 hub on the device end? I'm only expecting USB 2.0 speeds. A competing device only worked with some USB 3.0 hubs.
"Sabrent 10-Port 60W USB 3.0 Hub with Individual Power Switches and LEDs Includes 60W 12V/5A Power Adapter" (HB-BU10) does work on the device end.
Tested with USB-RS232 devices and a USB 2.0 high speed data streaming device.

Assuming a high quality cable, will this be able to provide full USB 2.0 480 mpbs speeds at 164 feet? Thanks!
Yes, USB 2.0 can travel without signal degradation over 164 feet.

question
Is this an Ethernet extender or just a Cat5/6 Extender? HUGE difference between just retransmitting across CAT5 wiring and actually converting to Ethernet Frames, Only the latter would allow you to use with switches or other L2 devices in between, which is the scenario I'm trying to use it for. Not looking to run a dedicated line.
For what I bought it for and I believe what its designed for, is to just extend and transmit USB protocol past the recommend 6 feet. In my tests I was able to extend up to 150 ft. This is a P2P device.
