Gitzo GSGREASE02 Overview

This set of two bottles of Tripod Twist-Lock Grease from Gitzo is meant to be used every time your tripod is cleaned. It helps ensure smooth operation and protects the metal surfaces from excessive wear. The grease is not sticky, which helps avoid buildup of dust, sand, and other dirt that may dramatically reduce the locking system life time. Each tube has enough grease to lubricate a four-section tripod.

Tripod works like new again

Yes, it seems expensive for grease, but it's effective. My Gitzo G1228 tripod was a little squeaky and the legs stiff to open after over 12 years of use. I fully disassembled the tripod, cleaned every part with a degreaser to remove a decade of dirty grease, flattened and polished smooth the bearings, and assembled the tripod using the grease only on the threaded components and brass bearings. Do not grease the legs as the composite bushings will swell and make it difficult to open. The tripod now has a smooth and fluid motion like the day I bought it. Used almost 1 full tube.

Wipe away grit and apply lightly. Works well.

Its grease designed for tripod legs. You will need this down the road so put one in your bag for proper maintenance.
