C2G Cat 6a Snagless Shielded Overview

The blue C2G 5' Cat6A Snagless Shielded (STP) Network Patch Cable from C2G is designed to work with 10GBase-T ports and equipment like routers, hubs, switches, network adapters, DSL/cable modems, and patch panels. It will protect high speed 10 Gigabit network connection from electromagnetic interference and noise. The cable can handle high bandwidth applications and reduce both structural return loss and impedance for voice/data/video distribution.

Each of the cable pairs is bonded to maintain the twist spacing from connector to connector. The cable is designed to minimize Near-End Crosstalk (NEXT) levels. The cable is tested to meet ANSI/TIA 568 C.2 Cat6a component requirements.

I bought two of these to mount 32" Samsun monitors to my standing desk. The components are very high quality, particularly the mounting hardware, which is far superior the typical small bases with a screw. It's easy to position the monitors exactly where I want them. Highly recommended.

The product states that it is STP but the description says "UTP for greater flexibility". Is this cable shielded or unshielded?

The description "UTP for greater flexibility" seems to suggest that this is a UTP cord, not STP.

The C2G CAT6 Snagless Patch Cable is not weatherproof. It's shielding refers to the braided wire and foil that shield it from stray electrical signals. It is not shielded from the elements. I've seen similar cable last 2 years in an outside run in San Diego but it is not designed for it (in this case the RJ45 connectors were never exposed). Best to buy a spool of shielded cable and run it through some conduit but attaching the RJ45 connectors is difficult so they typically run it to a patch panel.
