With an angle of view of 98.9°, the lens is well-suited for shooting landscapes, architecture, and for use in tight interior locations. It's fast maximum aperture of T2.2 also makes the lens suitable for shooting low-light conditions. Three extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements have been incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to produce sharper images. Additionally, a Nano Coating System (NCS) has been applied to the lens elements in order to reduce surface reflections and prevent lens flare and ghosting for improved light transmission and more contrast-rich imagery. A bayonet-mount lens hood and lens pouch come included with the lens.

question

Does the focus ring match up to the other DS lenses rokinon makes?
Asked by: Ethan
Hi There,First of all, before I answer I should add a disclaimer: I do not own any of the Rokinon DS Cine lenses. However, I have been doing a lot of research online about these lenses. According to an online YouTube Reviewer (Mr. Cheesycam... whom I like and seems to have a good reputation for reviewing products fairly and accurately), he reports that all of the lenses in the Rokinon DS Cine Lens have their focus rings placed in exactly the same place.I just tired to copy and paste the YouTube link for you (it seems B&H doesn't allow this). That being said, if you jump on YouTube and enter the search term... rokinon ds cine lenses mr. cheesy cam It comes right up (you should definitely find it in the top 3 search results).

question

Is there any disadvantage to buying this lens and using for stills? I like the clickless aperture for video and don't mind the non-fixed f stops.
Asked by: Paul R.
The disadvantage is using it in scenarios where you have to change focus very often and needing metadata. I'm using this lens primarily for stills...something like 80/20 photos/videos. I have zero issues with the lens. While an auto lens would have been helpful--and very much more expensive for a fast lens--I pretty much always shoot on a tripod, aperture priority (or manual) using the full range of T/f stops, at ISO 100. I certainly like the smooth cine T stops (whatever they are called). This lens compliments my use of late 70's Mamiya SLR lenses (using an adapter) on my Sony A6000. It does take a bit of time and practice shooting without auto functions (just like the old days with film). My main use is in real estate, architecture, and landscape imagery.I'm very please with this lens and I would recommend it for the budget conscious or patient photo/videographer.

question

Will this work well on the a7?
Asked by: Laura
The mount will fit, but this lens is meant for a crop sensor. If you put this on the a7, you will get some mean vignetting. The longer Rokinons will however work well with the a7 line. I would suggest going to a 24mm Rokinon Cine.

question

Will this work on the a7 for sharp night time (low light) outdoor photos?
Asked by: Laura
The Sony a7 is a full-frame camera while this Rokinon 12mm T2.2 Cine Lens for Sony E Mount is for smaller APS-C sensors. If you use it straight on the camera in full frame mode, you will see severe darkening of the corners or vignetting. However, Sony is aware of this and has a APS-C mode that is selectable in the camera so in the end, you can use this lens on the a7. It will deliver sharp images, day or night. Just be aware you are cropping the image so you will not get as many MP's out of the image like in full-frame mode. Correctly handled, the difference in image quality is not considered an issue by most pros.

question

Can this work for Sony CMOS Sensors? I have a Sony FS700.
Asked by: Jacob S.
Works fine. I have the same camera. Have only tested it so far but will be using it along with the 35 T 1.5 and the 85 T 1.5 and a few Nikon lenses plus the 18-200 kit Sony lens to make a short narrative film in the next few weeks.
