Naonext NEO-CB1 overview

  • 1Description

The Naonext Crystall Ball MIDI Controller uses infrared optical distance sensors that allow you to control sound and lighting effects using your hands or other objects. The operating range of the optical sensors is between 5 and 35 cm.

The unit utilizes a grid of programmable buttons with 24 banks and 5 quick presets with each key on the keypad capable of controlling the device's five optical sensors. This enables MIDI control over elements such as effects, notes, and samples in your DAW, DJ, or MIDI-capable lighting program of choice. The instrument connects to your computer via USB and also includes MIDI I/O for connecting additional MIDI devices, sensors, or a foot-switch. Mappings can be edited and shared online within the Crystall Ball user community.

    Naonext NEO-CB1 reviews

Crystall Ball MIDI Controller is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this controller! The Crystal Ball is my favorite midi controller. I am a singer/songwriter -electronic artist and I use the CB with Ableton Live in all of my live electronic shows. I found it extremely easy to midi map both the keys and the light sensors. (some of the banks also have really cool presets!) The editor has a ton of flexibility enabling the user to trigger scenes, specific notes & patches, volumes, Ableton looper, custom parameters and much more. It even has an editor which enables you to save your presets I have also been really impressed with the customer service at Naonext, they have been amazing with answering my technical questions. Also, my fans really dig this unique addition to my show. Highly recommend :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I especially like the hold feature, where you can assign a level on the fly, hold it, and go on using other sensors and buttons to play off of that. It's also great to be able to make sets and save them into banks for instant recall at the gig. I thought I might even try using it to trigger shakers and tambourine samples. One guy I know uses it for creating surround mixes. Another, for triggering synth sounds. Seems great for performing DJs especially ones using programs like Ableton Live or Traktor DJ. The thing is rock solid BTW. When they first came out, they were a bit pricey but now I see they are very reasonable especially considering there's nothing really like it. If you're into MIDI controllers and don't have one, you're missing out...tons of fun, especially in a live performance environment.
