When you shoot Macro, Food, Product Photography, etc, the "Wimberley The Plamp II: will be your best assistant in the studio or outdoors. It flexible and strong to position objects and tools like diffusers or reflectors to almost any angle... Originally, I purchased two Plamps - but after using them for some time I added a couple more. It's a must have in your Photographer toolbox!

Much sturdier than the original plamp. With a pair of them you can make a free standing frame to hold a diffuser or reflector. Plamp can also hold a small LED light panel for close-up work.

The Plamp II are very well constructed and is a blessing to have in the field that you are attempting to capture your photograph and mother nature is not helping. Very satisfy with the product.

This updated version is much better that the original design. It is the second one I purchased. The arm is strong and maneuverable, and the clamp can handle different thicknesses well. You can easily manipulate whatever it is holding in the exact position you want.

Bought this on the recommendation of a Master Macro Photographer and although I've only used it sparingly the recommended setup works well.

Effective tool for holding small things in a fixed spot

I would give this a 5-star review, but the clamp on the end that holds your macro subject is a bit slow to use. You have to turn the screw enough that it loosens up, but the actual clamp doesn't open up until you use your fingers to spread them. It's just a minor annoyance. I currently have it clamped to a tripod leg and use it to grab a flower or other macro subject to hold it in a fixed location that's just as stable as the camera. I do like the little black inserts in the subject clamp as it's gentle enough to not damage the stem of your subject.

Some clamps are black and others grey. What's the difference and which one do we get here?
Asked by: Ivo
Direct from OEM: grey was the launch color, they then changed to black. Other than color, there is no diff between the two. I received black from B&H.
