This is nice adapter to extended grip options to connect camera mounts. With the correct adapter, speedlights can also fasten to this with cold or hot shoe with a 3/8 female fastener. The only thing I encounter was that I had to chase the threads on the adapter, the threaded bore for the handle.

Can you remove the 3/8 male threads to make it female? or is it fixed?
The set screw is not designed to be removed. It is fixed into place with red locktite and would require a torch to loosen and remove.
