I've had the first generation SpeedBead on my Benelli M1 Super 90 for the last 17 years and it has run flawlessly. At various times I have run buckshot, birdshot, and slugs and the Fastfire turns on when when I hit the switch and has held zero after all these years, even after changing the battery. This mount places the optic on the rear slope of the receiver which allows your normal head position on the stock; if the optic fails or you forget to turn it on you have the same sighting system (bead, vent rib, rifle sights) that you would have if the optic wasn't attached to the shotgun. I've been shooting shotgun optics since the mid-90s and this mount is the best way to do it, IMO. I also have one of these on a Rem 870 and it has run just as well. I'd have these on all of my shotguns if Burris made more models. The optic footprint for this mount is the Shield SMSc so you can use any of the small optics. like the Fastfire, that share this footprint.

Installation is fairly easy using basic hand tools. The installation instructions lack detail. I installed this RDS (red dot sight) on a Benelli M2. I recommend you remove any attached sling and barrel. This make it much easier to manipulate the receiver. The mounting ring is attached to the mounting base is very rigid and feels very durable. It did not flex at all during installation. You will be placing the factory wedge behind the metal ring. If you have a factory BC wedge, a minor modification required. The RDS itself, is very well made and very easy to sight in. I fired 25 rounds at a distance of 25 yards, of low bass and high bass loads with no deviation of point of impact. To be sure of your point of aim, I recommend using a bench rest when sighting in. My only issue, the knuckle of my right thumb would sometimes hit the base / back of RDS under recoil. Not too big of deal, but something to be aware of. The variable red dot brightness levels are easy to cycle through & useful depending on your light environment. The plastic shoot through shroud will be useful on rainy days and to protect the sight when transported. Overall, a very well built sight made by Burris.
