Impact SR-SHOE-D overview

  • 1Description

The SR-SHOE-D Speed Ring for Dual Shoe Mount Flashes from Impact is a portable, highly mobile accessory that allows you to double your flash power while creating flattering, soft lighting with equipment that you already own.

SR-SHOE-D has multiple benefits and convenience features aimed at making it an effective light shaping tool as well as a pleasure to use. Its four shoe mounts, allow use of 2 flash units along with separate radio receivers. The 360-degree rotating aluminum ring is labeled for easy installation of extra small to medium sized rectangular, square, strip, or octagonal softboxes. You can use 1 flash or add a second flash to double your power. If the power of the single flash is sufficient but you want faster recycling, set them both to 1/2 power and use the second flash as a "booster" to halve your recycling time. Dual brackets let you manipulate the angles and depth of the speedlights within the softbox to adjust the light spread.

Lastly, the sturdy unit has a 5/8" receiver for industry-standard light stands and tilting adjustment is made possible via the ratcheting-locking tilting handle.

    Impact SR-SHOE-D reviews

SR-SHOE-D Speed Ring for Dual Shoe Mount Flashes is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty I mainly shoot weddings, and carrying heavy lights just isn't fun or practical after a while... hence why I'm sticking to speed lights only these days. I went into B&H and was delighted to find this speedring. Be warned that it's heavy, but it also firmly holds my speed lights with Picketwizard TT5s attached. Unless you completely disassemble it each time (would take about 1 minute) you will need a bit of room in your camera bag for this. The L bracket juts out quite a long way. Anyway, I'm really impressed with the build quality of this speedring. I'm currently using it with the Chimera collapsible beauty dish, and it's a great match.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could be a LOT better -Lots of little parts will go missing! This product works fine, until you start losing little screws and springs here and there.. NOTE: the flash shoes are difficult to adjust, and they are very tiny spring loaded shoes, that WILL fall apart! Also, the base that attaches to the light stand has just come loose (without me noticing), and subsequently I have lost some very small, proprietary, and impossible to replace washers. So frustrating when working on location! Also, the entire unit is rather heavy and this makes it difficult to add to your luggage when traveling... i find that it's something I can do without, and will probably use the left over pieces for building my next DIY rig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well engineered and well made, very adjustable I now have purchased 2 of these, and they are both doing a great job. I have 2 flashes mounted on one, and 1 flash mounted on the second, one with a PhotoFlex OctaDome Medium Softbox, the other with an Impact Rectangular DUO 16x22. Works equally well either way. Very easy to adjust perfectly, and the adjustments stay put without coming loose. Great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST SHOE MOUNT FOR THE MONEY I just got this in and was shocked at how strong this is.. Not a PLASTIC piece of junk.. Solid compared to the others i have owned. Little heavier than most but this will last a lifetime. with a flash and softbox mounted you are looking at roughly 6 lbs.. Need to make sure your light stand can handle it.. I travel by air and this will not get torn up match this up with a Matthews Reverse Stand - 7' 11lb max weight extended and you are in business.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Worked very well with the Impact 12 x 36 Luxbank Duo Small Strip Softbox on an Impact Pro Lightstand with my Nikon SB910. Somewhat constrained in how the flashes can be mounted but I was able to get my flash correctly positioned. The the accessory shoe clips that form one side of each accessory shoe and lock the flashes in position are not retained in the flash bracket - they can unscrew completely, releasing the screw, the clip and the two tiny springs that hold the accessory shoes open. Best practice would be to lock each clip securely when not in use so small parts don't disappear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A bit more quantity and a lot more quality Its very convenient to have a second light to help illuminate your subject along with the faster recycling time. The unit is a bit on the heavy side so be sure to use a proper light stand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid! Very well built. Have tried it with an old Agfa (by Metz) strobe and a large octabox. No problem. Just had to make sure the adjustment knob was good and tight. I'm planning to get another one.
