With 400Ws of power backed with solid control and convenience features such as wireless triggering, the SDR-400 Alpha Monolight from Raya is a wise choice for studio and location photographers alike.
The SDR-400's power is variable from 1/32 to full in 1/10 stop increments over a 6-stop range. The 150W modeling light can be set to proportional to visually match the selected power level for easy pre-visualization of your photo. The modeling light can be turned off completely or set to Independent to input any user-selected light level. The lamp can also be set to dim upon triggering and power up when the flash head is fully recycled.
Recycling time is a fast 0.2-2.2 sec @ 120 VAC and faster at 220-240 VAC with an action-stopping flash duration of 1/1000 sec and a color temperature of 5600K that varies only ±100K regardless of power settings. The SDR-400 has multiple triggering options including a traditional sync cord and an optical slave but it also has a built-in radio receiver that can be triggered at distances up to 65' by the included 4-Channel transmitter. Settings include sync delay, red-eye reduction and synchronous triggering.
Other features include fan-cooling using auto temperature control to lengthen the life of the flash tube and modeling lamp and protect the unit's electronics, as well as fused circuit protection. The rubberized high strength polymer housing has a S-type mount to take advantage of the wide range if accessories made available by Raya, Impact and other brands that use this mount. The SDR-400 comes with a 7" umbrella/grid reflector, power cord, sync cord, protective cap, 115V modeling lamp and user-replaceable flash tube. Swap the modeling lamp out for a 220V type when used overseas.
