Dracast DLS-805 Reviews

Unexpectedly amazing

I got this 5 years ago in a Dracast kit. I had no idea how great of a value this stand was until I tried to replace it recently. It survived 5 years of heavy use and frequent travel with rough baggage handling on airlines - and it's the ONLY stand I have that is light, able to travel in a normal sized suitcase AND have a huge soft box on it without constantly having to worry that it's going to topple over. Is it a C-stand? Not even remotely close. Is it better than any other stand I have for its purpose? Surprisingly, yes. (Even a $100 carbon fiber stand I just got that promised the moon, but in the field didn't perform as well as this one.)

It's Portable

I use this in a portable portrait lighting kit I take on location. It is light weight, retracts to less than 30 to easily fit in my bag and is plenty sturdy enough to hold my studio light and modifier.

I had thought I could use this to put the A1x on-how can I adapt this stand for that purpose?
Asked by: Carrie
You may use the Phottix Varos Pro M Multi-Function Flash Shoe Umbrella Holder, B&H # PH87199 to mount a Profoto A1X to any light stand with a 5/8” stud. https://bhpho.to/3cAPGZZ

question

How do you adapt this to fit a 1/4 inch thread?
Asked by: Harvey
Being that this light stand has a 5/8” stud on top, you may use the Manfrotto 014-14 Rapid Adapter - 5/8" Stud to 1/4-20" Thread, B&H # MA01414 to convert that stud to a 1/4-20” thread. https://bhpho.to/2kbGGUz

question

Are these really 36 long when closed? The specs say 3 feet, does anyone have a more precise length when closed? I want to know what size bag to buy to hold three of these
Asked by: Steve
Just measured mine and they are 28 fully closed.

question

I would need to pivot the light downward, it appears with the bracket and barn doors it's very limited. What adjustable mount would be suitable to use between the light stand and light head?
Asked by: Edmund
You can use this 360 Swivel Mount which you can get here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1131913-REG/dracast_dr_sm_360_360_degree_swivel_mount.html // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at [email protected].
