    Dracast DR-DLS805 reviews

    DLS-805 Spring-Cushioned Light Stand (6') is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 109.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to open legs I found the stand legs to be very difficult to open, since they don't slid to the open position very easily even with the tension screw loosened up. I have other name brand light stands that can easily be opened up and closed without any effort. I may try putting some silicone on the main shaft to see if it helps. However, I don't want my hands getting a coating of silicone on them every time I have to handle the stands. The stands appear to be sturdy when you get them open. It is just getting them open easily and closing up the legs that seems to be an issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good not great These are my first light stands as I am very new to photography and videography. I am primarily a musician and have worked with a wide variety of drum/cymbal/percussion stands and understand there is a similar range of quality for lights and cameras. These seem to work ok for me so far, but I can tell that they are not the most sturdy products available. The Air-Cushion seems to be a spring at the bottom of each section that works most of the time but not consistently enough for my taste. the brackets holding the legs on also seem to be made of a cheaper and flimsier metal than the rest of the stand. Satisfied overall, but I can see its drawbacks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not So Good Not too much I can say that's especially good about this stand... however, I got it free with a B&H Deal Zone offer, so I really can't complain much. But based on the trial I've had with it, I wouldn't spend the money to actually buy one. I'm always leary of plastic tightning collars, and this one has them, and the problems gripping enough to prevents the shafts from sliding under a load. Its fine for really light duty lights/tasks, but that's about it. Buy a Manfrotto, or Avenger, as they are much better quality! Especially the Avenger's with the leveling leg... IMO the best stands out there for the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value, Great Quality I've become a huge fan of Dracast products. This stand is air cushioned, which is essential as it's very common to occasionally slip and the stand will crash down and potentially damage your light. The air cushion prevents that from happening. The price is hard to beat too, their are cheaper stands on B&H, but I think this is the highest quality inexpensive stand you can get. At my local photography store, the cheapest stand they sell is $, and it's not air cushioned, nor is it solid built (like this Dracast stand). Build quality is exceptional, and it comes with a case!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent Light Stand These are a decent light stand. I wouldn't really agree that they are Air-Cushioned, they have a spring at the bottom to keep them from slamming all the way down but unlike my more expensive stands which actually lower slowly even with weight on top, these will drop at full speed with the light on top. There are a number of plastic parts to these but they seem sturdy. They are short at only 7.2 feet, but actually get high enough for use on LED panels. I like that they are short when collapsed and fit inside my Pelican 1650 case.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cushion can't support weight of Dracast LED500 pro no batt This DLS-805 stand came with Dracast LED500 pro bi-color with gold mount. It would be a satisfactory inexpensive stand except that it is marketed as an Air-Cushioned stand and sold with the light... making you believe that you can rely on it for that purpose. The stand I received cannot cushion the fall of the light with barndoors on and no battery installed. I won't let it freefall, but just letting it drop while holding it very lightly, the air is never enough to cushion the fall until it bottoms out and you can here a spring begin to compress. I don't trust it. I'll contact B&H to make sure I haven't gotten a dud. If I did, I'll update the review. Otherwise, please be careful that the stand can cushion a freefall of your light prior to relying on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Will Stand... Not much to say, with all the previous glowing reviews already given. But with one difference--don't go cheap if you want something to last for a while. The reviews here, heavily convince me to get this items* yes, got two*, I was going for a more cheaper one, *under $$.* The Folding arms of the stand, must be handled with care, they will close properly and open if done with proper care. And yes, they are a little heavy, but that weight is needed to keep it stable, and small sandbags will hold it down, if use when shooting outside, if windy. And oh, they come with their own carry bag. Yes!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would not agree with the description on the web. The STAND is adequate, but not Air-Cushioned. The stand is SPRING cushioned. A sufficient weighted light will drop and will compress the spring and come to a HARD LANDING. Not the best of descriptions!
