AMD FirePro S400 Synchronization Module
Key Features
  • Supports Genlock and Framelock
  • Synchronizes up to Four GPUs
  • BNC Genlock Input to Use House Clock
  • Dual RJ-45 Ports to Daisy-Chain Cards
The single-slot form factor FirePro S400 Synchronization Module from AMD is able to sync between one and four compatible FirePro Graphics cards using genlock or Framelock. Genlock is common in broadcast video applications, and can be generated internally or come from an external "house" source via a BNC sync input. Framelook, meanwhile, is specific to computer graphics, combining output lock (synchronized display output) and 3D swap lock (simultaneous 3D buffer swapping) to ensure multiple GPUs in the connected systems present their outputs in lock-step. This is useful if images from multiple display outputs are being aggregated into one image. The card features dual RJ-45 ports so that daisy-chaining can be used to extend synchronization across multiple computers.

Supports up to Four GPUs Per Module
Enables a high density of workstation GPUs in a single machine
Field Upgradeable Firmware
Improved functionality can be deployed after initial installation of the module without opening the host computer
Full Hardware-Based Synchronization
On board logic is dedicated to Genlock and Framelock functionality, helping to ensure accurate and consistent synchronization for all applications
Daisy-Chaining Capability
Dual RJ-45 ports allow multiple machines to be synced, and allows multiple channels of 3D-rendered content to be played out in lock-step
Genlockable to Nearly Any Source
House sync capability through the BNC input supports PAL and NTSC SD video, blackburst, HDTV tri-level, TTL, and even SDI sync
Serial ATA (SATA) Power Connector
Allows power to be provided by a modern power connector, as the older 4-pin IDE connector is becoming obsolete, particularly in newer OEM chassis designs
