The FirePro R5000 Remote Graphics Card from Sapphire is a server-side graphics card for one-to-one connection between the card, located in a data center, and a PCoIP client device. It is designed to give employees at remote client devices the same user experience as if they were connected directly to a workstation. The card uses PCoIP protocol to deliver high performance graphics, USB, and audio to remote client devices over standard network infrastructure. It allows IT departments to remote multi-display workstations for employees working in fields that demand graphics rich content or GPU-assisted parallel processing, such as video editing, 3D modeling, CAD, animation, engineering, design, financial services, or medical imaging.
The GPU in the FirePro R5000 features 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, a 256-bit memory interface, and has a memory bandwidth of up to 102 GB/s. In addition, the integrated Teradici Tera2240 host processor compresses data from the GPU and is able to push it out at up to 300 megapixels per second to a compatible PCoIP-enabled client device such as the Dell Wyse P45.
The FirePro R5000 is designed to bring the multi-display workstation experience to employees using networked client devices. Via its Ethernet port, the card can remote up to four displays at a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 each. For higher resolution applications, it can also drive two displays at up to 2560 x 1600 resolution when using an adapter that combines two client ports into one. In addition, the card features two Mini DisplayPort outputs allowing it to drive one or two displays locally.
