Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W overview

  • 1Description

The Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W is a standard 2-way pan/tilt head with the added feature of dual fluidity levels. This means you can choose between hard and soft fluidity when tilting your camera or scope. Hard fluidity will provide a slower tilt movement, while soft fluidity allows you to more quickly reposition your gear. For added control of the head's movement, two locks enable you to control the tilt and the 360° panning separately.

The head can hold 8.8 lb of gear, and has a working height of 3.9". It includes a 200PL quick release plate that attaches to your camera or scope via a 1/4"-20 threaded mount.

    Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W reviews

    MHXPRO-2W 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good product This head is super smooth and gives amazing shots. I find the friction too strong but even by putting it on the short lens mode it's too strong to do quick shots. There's a screw hidden below the plate that will maybe loosen the thing but i haven't tried it yet, so I can't move quickly, to follow a running subject or something like that. It's metal and plastic (the knobs) but it feels really solid. It's super lightweight for such a good quality video head. I would recommend this head if you already have a setup (tripod, mountings, etc) that is with RC2 plates, otherwise go for the MV502AH, much more pro like!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding, tough little head First, it's still made in Italy not China. This head has wonderful fluid drag resistance that rivals the much larger 502AH. It can support and control a 5-6 pound rig. Not as well as the 502 but well enough and at half the size/weight. The two settings for tilt drag (long lense/short lens) work well. The pan drag is quite stiff and it will pull the tripod legs off of the ground with a light load, but if you hold down the tripod or otherwise control your movements this thing is smooth, solid and a pleasure to use. Great size/weight for run and gun, use on a monopod or small tripod or slider.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pan is eh ... Good head overall for photography but for pan the drag is set too tight and it unscrews had to adjust it and take it apart to losten it. Get a 502HD Pro Video or the variant with the quick release photo plate if you want the pan on that one is MUCH better if I did this again I'd buy that model. I still may swap out and buy that one in time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with a BeFree Tripod Was gifted the Manfrotto Travel bag and BeFree Tripod combo. Needing a video a fluid head, I decided to purchase this one. It works great! Very compact and stable. Works great with my 7D Mk II rig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect head for the money! I've mainly used this head for videography. I chose this head for 3 reasons... 1) The quick release/plate matches my current setup. 2) The fluid selector. 3) The lever, which attaches to either side of the head. I've shot mostly weddings with this thing and you owe it to your B-roll to pick one up. Aside from sticks, I've also put this guy on a mini jib for a music video and in a word... smooth!!! No brainer for the money!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid, but stiff & bulky This head's stiff tension, both tilt & pan, is probably is great for stable video, but it can't be adjusted enough to allow relatively free and fluid movement. It doesn't serve my need (spotting scope).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value I bought this pan head for digiscoping and it has worked great so far. Little on the heavy side, but holds my 85mm spotter great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Perfect for my needs: both video and photo on 5d mk iii. Product lives up to Manfrotto standards.
