I like that this camera easily slides into and out of my pocket when traveling, will the grip make this more difficult? Presumably it is made of a rubberized material. Or is it?

It will depend on the size and shape of your pocket if the Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip will be able to slide easily into your pocket. However, if there is enough room in your pocket, the camera should still be easily accessible.
