Tenba BYOB 13 Overview

  • 1Description

The gray BYOB 13 Camera Insert from Tenba is designed to carry and protect a camera and gear inside other non-camera bags including larger backpacks, suitcases or handbags. Its soft outer shell molds to the shape of a variety of carry bags. The gray BYOB 13 will hold a DSLR camera body with up to 3 lenses and accessories and can fit a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens attached to the camera body. Padded interior dividers are adjustable to fit multiple configurations and soft brushed tricot lining does not scratch your equipment. The insert features a zippered top cover that can be folded back and stowed to allow easy access to your gear and a handle for carrying and quick removal of the insert. Stretchy mesh pockets provide a place to store mobile phones, camera and lens accessories or other items and zippered interior pockets can secure smaller more valuable items. In addition there are front and rear pockets for additional acessories and a D-ring to attach keys, a carabiner or tethered media wallet.

    Tenba BYOB 13 Reviews

BYOB 13 Camera Insert Gray is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits my waterproof backpack I needed a camera insert for my waterproof backpack so i could take my photo equipment along in a zodiac or kayak, even on a rainy day. This perfectly fits into my 3 L WP backpack (14w x5-6d x17h). It eliminates the need for packing the lenses in bulky padded bags or wraps. It makes it easy to retrieve the camera already mounted with a lens, and to change lenses. This insert easily holds a 70-200 mm lens (mounted or not) plus a 16-80 mm zoom and a 300 mm lens. The camera insert also can hold filters and whatnots in the padded cover comparment. It eliminates all the fishing around for equipment that I experienced on a trip last year, while still allowing me room for a jacket, plus lunch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from super functional actually pretty brilliant -- finally. I own TOO MANY camera bags because none are very convertable. I needed an insert to hold two 5D Mark III's with lenses (24-70 and 11-24) attached in a 35L dry bag backpack for transport near the ocean and on boats, etc. -- this is exactly the right size. Plus, with the PackLight travel bag, it makes a decent shoulder bag for actually working out of. I'm a big fan of the ThinkTank retro series adn the retro 10 also fits, but it excessively bulky. When I need both a backpack and a shoulder bag, this may be my new set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flexibility Like a lot of you, I'm always on that search for the perfect camera bag. I have a backpack when I'm carrying a full filter kit, for landscape; but, prefer something more accessible (and discrete) when doing street photography, and have a subset of my gear. I've looked at (and purchased a number of) shoulder style bags, messenger, and sling bags. Nothing was quite right, too small, not secure, poor materials. What I was really looking for was a camera bag version of my Chrome messenger bag. I looked at Chrome's Niko line of camera bags. Again, both the messenger and backpack styles were too small for the situations where you'd want to use these bags. My litmus test was a 24-70 (hood reversed) mounted to my D810. Finally, I figured, stop resisting. I have the bag I want to discretly carry my gear in; just get an insert. Tenba is a known, and trusted brand; I'm not disappointed. With this insert, I can easily carry two zoom lenses (one attached to the body), plus a 50mm prime. One of those zooms can even be a 70-200.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag - but a bit big for my needs This camera insert bag is well made and feels solid and reliable. It just about fits in my back pack. I've just taken it on a US domestic flight and my back pack with this insert in it *just* fitted under my seat.I put my Canon Rebel, telephoto lens, and flash in the bag and there was loads of room - too much room. In my view, you could easily fit two lenses, a flash, and other bits and pieces in the bag. For what i wanted, I would probably have been better off with the smaller size. The camera insert bag has two tabs on it (not visible in the picture). I added some spiral rings and a shoulder strap and used the insert as a camera bag in its own right. It worked perfectly. The one extra thing I would like is some extra dividers to use all the space productively.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent insert for larger equipment! The insert comes with no lack of padding and dividers. I was able to fit 6D, 24-70 2.8, 16-35 f4, 70-200 f4, and a 100mm 2.8 macro. The external sleeves and pockets are great for filters or cards. All around great addition to the gear.

Can the velcro dividers attach anywhere along the lining? Some camera bags have smooth lining that velcro won't stick to. Others have cloth type fabric that velcro can stick to. Which one is this? Thank you.
    Asked by: Jessica29
This bag has a cloth liner where the divider can attach anywhere inside. It been the perfect bag for my Sony A6000 and an extra lens.

I want to use the Tenba 10 to carry a Nikon SB700 flash and a Sigma ring flash that is almost the size of the Nikon flash plus a thick coiled wire to the ring. Will the 10 be ample to fit those?
    Asked by: David F.
It will hold a D750 w/ lens plus another lens. It should hold your gear. It's really good for carrying the photo equipment in a pack sack making good camouflage

Is there any place to attach a shoulder strap?

Is there any place to attach a shoulder strap?
    Asked by: Kerry
Yes and no. There is metal ring attached to the front but none on the back. However, there are two fabric loops on the back, one at each end. One could, I think, run metal rings (like large key rings) through these and then attach a strap to them, but I wouldn't trust them to support heavy weight. This is really designed as an insert and not a stand alone bag. Hope this helps.

Does it fit inside a Tenba DNA 13?
    Asked by: David K.
No, but it will fit in the DNA 15. I realize that's a little confusing from the name, but the BYOB 13 is very close in size to the removable insert in the DNA 15. The BYOB 10 is a little smaller than the inside of the DNA 13, so that would be the best size match=up for the DNA 13.
