    Grado SR80e reviews

Prestige Series SR80e Headphones (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sound for Value Fantastic right out of the box, I found that these may need to be broken in normally after the first few days of using them in order to hear their full range of sound, or maybe that's just me. Any case, these are spectacular and there is no distortion whatsoever, and with these being open-backed they have that unique open ended live sound stage that closed-back headphones just don't have. Had to mod my phone case in order for the big cable end to fit, but since these will be used mostly sitting down quietly at home, there are no issues there. Other headphones at this price just don't cut it like these do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nicely in your face headphones! My first Grado headphone & am glad I got them. Had read many reviews of Grado headphones before deciding to buy. Build quality is unique & surprising. First look out of the box was disappointing as it looked fragile. But these are well made & fit good. Now the sound review. Bass is very good, decent snap & clean thump. Mids are excellent, clear, loud, in your face, in a nice way. Highs are very good, crisp cymbal sounds. Vocals are great on this headphone. Only complaint is the headband. It should have some padding under there but only has a thin bit of material for your head to rest on. The Grado 80e is well worth the price. Buy it. Also recently purchased the Grado 325e. Will review that later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality listening experience I listen to my stereo receiver and also Premium movie channels. My wife and children (two 75# Dobermans) don't like the volume too high. With these headphones, the sound is clear, crisp, and a treat for me. Now when I have the house to myself, I still listen with these new headphones. It's like being there live. Most appreciated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice sou d, nice price I rarely use headphones, but wanted a pair for studying Spanish via a CD course. I also wanted to use them with my iPad for occasionally listening to videos without disturbing others. My main concern is good full-spectrum fidelity and comfort.PLUS: Excellent sound -- so good I may start using them for listening to music more often. Good transparency -- I can hear other sounds around me, but they are not intrusice.SO-SO: Headband a little tight (I wear the phones over glasses and hearing aids). Platic covering on headband is kind of chintzy, seems flimsy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing sound, amazing value i a bit of a headphone enthusiast, being a musician. i have ultrasone studio headphones, westone w3 in-ear-monitors, blue mo-fis, and various others. i was stuck in NYC recently and needed some headphones that played a bit better with some studio gear i had picked up, so i decided to take a chance on the GRADO SR80es. i'd heard about grados for years, but hadn't wanted to play around with open-back headphones. as soon as i tried them on in B&H i was sold. it's true that the SR80es don't have the pounding, overprocessed bass of something like, i guess, an Apple Beats headphone might have. but in terms of overall sound quality - blend, balance, sense of SPACE. these things absolutely amaze in those categories. i can't believe the quality of sound for $100. the open-back nature of the phones delivers an entirely different listening experience. wider, more open than anything i'd heard previously. yes, sound leak is a thing - you won't be able to listen to these on an airplane or in bed next to your significant other without them hearing plenty. and yes, sound will 'leak' IN as well, but i personally enjoy that. walking around NYC with the sounds of the city blending in to the music i was listening to - adds a new element and also adds the bonus of hearing the trash truck just before it runs me over.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best headphones for the price Grado headphones are classic and they have earned a deserved reputation for delivering true value in their respective price category. Headphones are very well built and with sturdy cabling. These are designed for still listening not intended for active wearing. So if your a runner this is not the product for you. The only rub with Grado's has been their design can be fatiguing to wear because of the headband design. I did NOT find this. In fact I found them to be comfortable for long listening sessions. This may have been an product improvement or just more attention to personal adjustment. Sound: The Grado's get the mid range right. The sound is engaging and delivers a good bottom end. Some headphones create listening fatigue, I did not find this with the Grado's. I have owned a number of headphone brands, including some very high end ( expensive ) but alway come back to the Grado's. Highly recommend.!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible, Realistic Sound Reproduction As a classical choral musician, I search for the details within a piece of music to differentiate the good from the great from the best. These Grado SR80e headphones allow the smallest details to be conveyed accurately -- to the artist's delight, or possibly to their dismay. The open-back design allows for the ambiance of one's space to join the musical expression intended by the artist. It's the most accurate, pleasing, unadulturated sound experience I've had. Needless to say, these come very highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Nice Sounding Headphones Bought these after reading a few reviews that raved about the sound quality. Fit is a little snug right out of the box and the foam pads are firm but I expect that to change for the better over time. Prior to this review, I've spent a few hours listening to rock, electronic, jazz and classical music in my iTunes library and they sound really good. Nice bass, clean clear treble. No problem handling high volumes. Was initially thinking four stars due to the band being a rather basic, thick vinyl with no padding. At first I thought that would make them uncomfortable but it hasn't bothered me even after listening for a while. The money for materials clearly went were it counts. Be aware the cable is beefy, you'll notice it's there if you move around a lot while listening.
