Excellent Tripod Rail

Rated 5 out of 5

This is a very good tripod rail. I use it with a Nikon D850 and the 24-120mm Nikkor zoom, which can be a front-heavy rig. I use the rail to steady the camera and lens on a tripod by placing it at their combined center of gravity. I can offset the camera and pull it back a couple of inches off center of the tripod rail mount; this keeps it from vibrating or bobbing in a heavy wind like what I encounter shooting seascapes. Very easy to use, good materials. I use the rail in a Sirui ballhead with Arca-Swiss mount.

I got this for mounting my 200-500mm F5.6 (w/D500) on a gimbal head/tripod. Works fine. Seems tough and well-made.

This plate has an ARCA-style dovetail, but it doesn't fit my ball mount. I thought that the standard for ARCA was 40mm. What ball heads do you sell that mate to this plate?
Asked by: Edward
This will fit any arca-swiss ballhead. The most popular ballheads sold for long lenses are Arca-Swiss (brand), Really Right Stuff, Sirui, Benro, Gitzo, etc. Try removing the safety stop screws on the bottom of the plate and see if that helps you slide the plate in.
