    Samson LTS50 reviews

LTS50 Laptop Stand is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Best as a stationary stand I use this stand on photoshoots for tethered shooting to a laptop. The locking mechanisms all seem pretty stable, the construction is super solid, and the tray easily detaches for transportation. There are also no ridges on the side which allows better access to the sides of the computer. One downside is the height adjustment in the main shaft, it is held in place by a pin with allows the top to rotate, and holds the tray at predetermined heights, but prevents a person from lifting the stand from the tray to move it around the room, it needs to be lifted from the base. Another downside is the grip pad where the laptop goes, it attracts dirt and dust and needs to be covered with plastic when not in use to retain any functionality. Previously owned the Quiklok stand which has much worse construction, barely detachable tray, and side ridges the ruined our laptop ports, so this would be a step up but still not ideal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great little stand for $50 What on earth can you buy at B&H for $50? Precious little. This laptop stand for shooting tethered is one heck of a deal. The gooey pad keeps the laptop stuck to the stand. You just have to be careful that the gooey pad does not suck up all the dust and muck in the bottom of your bag. The post is held in place with a pin and clamp. Good news. The pin comes with a lanyard so it doesn't run away when you turn around. The tether tools table is four times the money and it doesn't come with the stand. It would be great to be able to have a small hard-drive holder on the bottom of the tray, but that is a lot to ask for $50 all in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very sturdy I bought this stand to hold my MacBook Pro Retina 15 for tethered photo shoots. I am extremely happy with the solid build quality of this stand, not a hint of tipping, and the silicone pad (use is optional) is practically like glue. I was considering the TetherTools Aero for MacBook Pro, but it's almost 4X the price and doesn't include a stand. I have no regrets buying the LTS50.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great Use as a laptop stand. We run sound from stage with a digital mixer that I control with a laptop. After downsizing my rig, I did not have a convenient place to put the laptop where I could control things, and usually ended up using a barstool or highchair. The stand works well. It seems sturdy and is at a good elevation to allow me to work on the laptop with one hand. It breaks down to not take up much room, and the platform can come off to take up even less space. The only thing I don't like about it is that it seems unstable if you put it up to the highest level. I think this is due to there only being a small amount of the top tube present in the lower tube, which allows some wobble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, sturdy stand I got this as a gift for a stage magician friend to use as a performance table, which admittedly is not the application it was designed for. However it's most important aspects are still the same as any application: it's sturdy, lightweight and packs well. The table edges are bent up along the long dimension and one lip is taller than the other. Presumably this is done to prevent a laptop from sliding if you tilt the tabletop down. I only mention this because it means it's important that your gear fits between the raised edges of the table top. The only other thing to watch out for is the tripod feet if you're going to be working close to the table. If you go for the most stable stance, they stick out and can trip you. If you go for a more compact stance, the unit is less stable. I like the stand and my magician friend is finding it easy to work with and take on gigs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from In a word: Perfect! I did a lot of research on stands (even music stands) for my new laptop for tethered shooting. This is a very sturdy stand and well made. The adjustment points are strong with no worries for slippage. The base is wider than I thought looking at the photo which is good for stability. It is a bit on the heavier side if you plan on transporting it on long hikes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased Very sturdy stand. Perfect for tethered shooting. And much cheaper than others I looked at made specifically for tethered shooting. And those didn't even come with the stand, only the table. The only advantage those other ones might have is a provision for cooling the laptop. But that doesn't really seem to be an issue with my laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a Tascam DP-03 Recorder It was hard to find the correct size and lowest height, but after going to other web sites, I found it. Also, the sides are accessible for the hard drive and memory chip. The rear is also accessible for the cables. The lowest height is about 29 to the center using the tray flat. Best used at 45 degrees which makes it even lower. The tray size is 11X 15 1/2 Which is larger than the recorder, but should take the largest laptop. The unit is well made and very sturdy and heavy. The front lip and pad holds the recorder and keeps the internal mics clear.
