Sirui P-224C overview

  • 1Description

The P-224C Carbon Fiber Monopod is a portable, lightweight camera support that sets up quickly and is ideal for fast moving situations like sporting events, where tripods lack portability and take up too much room.

The monopod has a maximum height of 66.9", folds down to 22" and supports up to 22 lb while weighing in at only 1.1 lb. This updated version of the P-224 has smaller, more ergonomically designed twist locks, allowing you to more easily collapse and expand the monopod. The rubber foot twists to reveal a retractable stainless steel spike to maintain stability on hard or soft surfaces. Its head mounting platform has a reversible 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 screw to accommodate your choice of ball or pan head. A foam grip on the top section provides comfort when holding or carrying the monopod.

    Sirui P-224C reviews

P-224C Carbon Fiber Monopod is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight, Strong utensil, Wont' Slip! I routinely use a Monopod with a 1D MkIV mounting a 300mm f/2.8 for soccer, football, baseball. Just changed over to this carbon fiber lightweight when my aluminum one got bent in a fall during football last year. It's shorter by two inches, but unless you're 6.9 or over, it will work just fine. Th aluminum unit I replaced with this one had started slipping with the weight of the camera/lens combination I usually use. This one is solid. I will replace the missing two inches with PVC or a wooden block, necessary since I AM 6.9. Otherwise, this unit is finestkind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I WOULD BUY THIS POD AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH TODAY'S DIGITAL CAMERAS, TRIPODS ARE LESS AND LESS NECESSARY...HOWEVER, THEY CAN STILL COME IN HANDY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE ONE WITH YOU. THE MONOPOD, AS A HIKING STICK, PROVIDES A HANDY DAYTIME SOLUTION. FOR THE MONEY, THIS MONOPOD IS CARBON FIBER AND THUS VERY STRONG AND VERY LIGHT. WHEN IT WAS DELIVERED, I WOULD HAVE SWORN THE BOX WAS EMPTY. IT SERVES WELL AS A HIKIING STICK WITH THE OPTION OF GOING WITH THE METAL POINT OR THE RUBBER BASE. I THREW ON A SMALL ARCA SWISS BALLHEAD. SUPERB. DO NOT SPEND 3-4X'S AS MUCH FOR THE MORE EXPENSIVE OPTIONS...THIS BABY DOES THE JOB.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far great This is a great little Monopod. It's small, lightweight, and strong. What more could you want from a monopod? Also it is tall enough to be higher than eye-height for me and I am 6'3. I purchased it because I was tired of lugging my old giant aluminum monopod around Manhattan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid choice This product performs exactly as it claims and is an incredible value for the price. The quick locks are easy to use without any wasted effort, the height range is great, the threading accepts cameras directly or a head, and the foam padding doesn't feel loose or cheap. It's lightweight and easy to carry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great with 200-400mm Thought I should have gotten the 4 series P-424 instead, but purchased this because it was the only one in stock. Just finished a shoot with a 200-400mm on Canon 5D3 and it performed flawlessly. With the height, I can use it on a couple of steps and still reach a good eyeline for a 165cm height. Flexing is not an issue. I upgraded from a metal monopod because that was making noise during height changes when I covered symphonic band and choir concerts. Will recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid monopod This is my second purchase from Sirui and it does not disappoint me. I used to think that Gitzo was always the best, but now Sirui is a serious competitor at a more affordable price point. The material is solid, the joints are strong, leg movement is smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monopod What I liked about the Sirui was that it had the twist locks for adjusting the height of the monopod. Flip lock levers tend to catch on clothing (especially if you wear cargo type pants) and other obstructions. Only have used it a few times so far but like the solid construction of this monopod and the 5 year warranty it comes with. B&H had it shipped to me for free and next day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight, yet super strong! At first I thought I'd made a mistake buying such a lightweight stick. Then I extended it, locked it up, and discovered just how stable it actually is. Now I realize I made a great purchase. Thanks Sirui.
