Designed to fit Zoom H5 Handy Recorders, the Porta Brace AR-ZH5 is a carrying case made out of durable 1000D cordura nylon, keeping it safe from abrasions whilst in the field. The case offers easy access to controls and I/O, all while providing protection. Cable outlets and display windows are secured by touch-fasteners; when you pull them apart, you can access volume controls, the interchangeable capsule mounted to the top of the H5, cable entries, and more.
Open the front panel of the case and you'll find the display protected by a clear vinyl screen, one that lets you view your levels and recording time with ease. The H5 has two prominent analog volume dials for input level adjustment of microphones, and the AR-ZH5 takes this into account: a black, fabric bar overlays on top of these dials, so that you don't jostle them accidentally.
Should you wish to clip the case to a strap or belt loop, a small attachment point is provided. The item, however, does not come with a strap or a belt loop. The case is lightweight at 0.2 lb.

PortaBrace AR-ZH5 Reviews
Porta-Brace, but..
Obviously being Porta-Brace the construction is fantastic. BUT the idea of the design is basically 'wrap your Zoom in velcro'. It's a terrible fit – the openings technically line up, but not very well and I found myself having to twist the H5 around inside the case when I wanted to get to the switches on other side. I used it for half a job and then bailed on the case because it was so inconvenient. I then put the case up for sale online that same day for some other poor soul to use. Yes it sold, and yes I felt bad about selling it to him haha. Basically what I'm saying is the quality is great and I love Porta-Brace, but the design is terrible.
Overbuilt for my needs
I do quite a few research interviews every year, often in rainy or dusty places. I bought the Porta Brace AR-ZH5 to protect my ZOOM H5 from the rigours of travel, and for this job it can definitely do the job. However, for actual use, I think I would take it out of the case most often, because the case is too stiff and fussy for my liking. In hindsight the Strut case for H5 would probably have been the better choice. I've seen the Strut case for the Tascam DR-60D and I like the softer waterproof fabric a lot better. Zippers on this case for a smaller device like the H5 would probably work better than industrial strength velcro. It will next be seen on @.
