Kupo 40" Master C-Stand Overview

Utilize this black, 10.6' Master 40" Riser C-Stand with Sliding Leg from Kupo to mount your lighting equipment and a whole variety of light shaping tools and accessories. The Kupo Master C-Stand with Sliding Base has two spring-loaded legs that open in fixed positions, while the third leg is height-adjustable by loosening a locking knob and sliding it up and down the main riser section. This enables you to raise one leg higher than the others to level the stand on an incline or uneven terrain, or to mount your lighting equipment on a set of stairs.

C-Stands get their sizing from the length of their riser sections. This 40" double riser stand has two telescoping risers and one main section for a total of 60". Add the height of the base and you arrive at your maximum height. All Century Stands feature a unique base specially designed with three varied leg heights. This enables the user to stack or "nest" the stand bases so that the risers are just inches apart from one another for use in close proximity, mounting of lights and other grip equipment, or easy storage. This Master C-Stand features a zinc alloy casting on its base that's five times stronger than aluminum and can sustain the weight of heavy sandbags or a person standing on the base. The aluminum cast locking collars are outfitted with a stainless steel heli-coil that protects the aluminum from being damaged by the knob's stainless steel bolt for strength and durability.

Kupo 40" Master C-Stand Reviews

Heavy Duty Stand

Using to hold iFootage 200DN with an oval softbox. I enjoy using the foot feature. The stand is great for a studio and definitely not good for being portable.

Use this for my photoshoots and it holds my lighting gear easily. It's a little on the heavy side but definitely worth the money. Very happy with this purchase!

Easy to open, easy to close, easy to pack, sturdy and heavy... what's not to love?

Well built and sturdy.

I shopped a long time before settling on the Kupo. It's well built and sturdy enough to support a Profoto 5' octabox in the bonnet/overhead position. Originally I was looking for spring cushioned sections in case the risers suddenly collapsed for whatever reason. The Kupo does not have this feature; however, the internal braking system between the riser sections eases lowering of the risers even when fully loaded (though you still should be careful). This has exceeded my expectations. I will be buying two more in the near future.

This is a very nice stand. It holds a lot of weight, but it is also heavy.

I've owned or worked with Matthews, Avenger, and Impact stands, but these Kupos are my favorites. They're super heavy duty with large knuckles that make locking a breeze. The quick release system on the turtle base is a nice touch as well.

question

Does the large leg slide up?
Asked by: Robert
No. You want one of the sliding leg models for that. Look at Kupo Grip's web site. Having said that, I have several of the turtle base models and love them. Great design and construction.

question

Can this be used as backdrop stand? If so, is there a compatible variable pole? Finally, will these hold more than one backdrop at a time? Thanks so much.
Asked by: Monique R.
Some have used C-stands like this one to hold a single roll of seamless paper, particularly in the smaller 2ft or 4.5 ft widths while being secured with standard spring clamp. If your intention is to hold multiple background at one time, you may be better off getting a background support which offers an adjustable cross and which can hold different types of backgrounds. One such option is the Savage Multiple Polevault System (12.6' Width) B&H # SABGSMPV which can hold up to three backgrounds. Please see the image below for reference.

What is the difference between this Kupo "Master" C-Stand and the other Kupo Turtle Base C-Stand that has identical specs?
Asked by: Andrew
All of the c stands are called Master C stand. The choices are Turtle base or sliding leg. The Turtle Base detaches the base from the riser. Sliding leg slides up & down the riser.
