The LCT 940 Premium Large-Diaphragm FET Condenser and Tube Microphone from Lewitt combines the specific characteristics of a premium large-diaphragm FET condenser microphone and tube microphone in one housing. You can choose between the two main settings ("FET" and "Tube") or mix and merge the characteristics of the two, providing various creative possibilities for artists and producers. The LCT 940 also features a total of nine different polar patterns: cardioid, omnidirectional, figure-8, wide-cardioid, super-cardioid, and four additional intermediate patterns. The microphone's PSU (power supply unit) offers four levels of attenuation and four switchable high-pass filters, indicators, and push buttons for noiseless handling. Additional attributes are automatic attenuation and clipping history. The microphone and the PSU are connected via an included 26' 11-pin XLR cable.

Look No Further
For the quick readers: get the mic, it's worth the investment. Sounds much better than a lot of other top brands currently in use in major studios. For the long readers: To set some context, my first mic was an AKG 414-XLII. I loved the mic the first time I used it at a studio, and it's one that's been revered by studios around the world. in 2014, I went to NAMM and saw this company hosting a live session. They were called Lewitt. I was interested, so I stepped in. They had a full band, mic'd with all kinds of Lewitt mics, dynamics and condensers, and it all sounded phenomenal but figured they're gonna make themselves sound the best they can in their setup so don't buy into it. I saw their demo units on the floor and was immediately drawn to this mic with a glowing face. This was the LCT 940. I thought, Wow, this is cool, but probably out of my league. I'll be content with what I got. Fast forward a couple of months to the summer. I needed a secondary mic to record a live cover with a friend. Being on a budget, I did some quick research and recalled Lewitt. I then saw they had their LCT 240 for about $250 at the time. I picked one up at Guitar Center and used it later that night. I kid you not, this $250 mic sounded better than my 414. I was floored. Some years later, I wanted to expand my mic collection and went for the LCT 940. I set it up, control box and all. The thing was amazing. You had your standard polar patterns, but also an adjustable Tube/FET option to better fit your recording situation. You could get a warmer sound or a more solid state and clean recording with FET. I was so impressed and each time I bring in clients to record, they're equally as amazed at the sound we're getting from the mic. Long story short, just because studios around the world or your favorite musicians, producers, artists, etc use big name mics like Neumann doesn't mean they're the end all, be all. Of course, every application and use will be different, but once I used Lewitt mics, I wouldn't want to switch to any others. Give them a shot and you're guaranteed to add one to your collection.
Must have In Mic Arsenal
By far one of the coolest mics on the market. I was skeptical at first. I used it, and instantly become fan. I can use this mic on literally anything! My clients love the glow of the tube in the mic. It creates a great vibe. You also have full twin topology. If you don't like the way it sounds with the tube engaged, switch it over to FET. Still not satisfied, you can blend between the Tube and FET. It also has an auto-pad feature. This feature alone is AWESOME! It helps out with those clients who do not have mic discipline or just bob from side to side, or just get way too into the song. Great sounding mic, with all the bells and whistles you can imagine! Very flexible and versatile! Must have in your microphone arsenal.
