    Metz 64 AF-1 reviews

mecablitz 64 AF-1 digital Flash for Canon Cameras is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Customer Service Only a few months after purchasing the Metz 64 AF-1 digital flash the screen went blank so that it could only be used in manual at full power. Before sending it in for warranty I tried updating the firmware to see if that might fix the problem. I was successful at downloading the firmware on my computer but could not install on the flash. I tried contacting customer service and was told to power up the flash but after trying everything I could think of with no success I contacted customer service again. After two emails were ignored I gave up and decided to send it in for warranty.Postage was $$which certainly did not make me happy but this is only the beginning. Tracking info told me when the warranty service department received the flash but I never did receive conformation from them so after a full week I contacted them. I was told they were waiting for a part from Germany before they could do the repairs. That was three weeks ago so went online to see if the parts had come in yet only to find they are still waiting. So here I sit waiting 4 weeks later without my new and very expensive flash, less $$and still no idea when it'll be repaired and returned. I understand even the best equipment can fail and this may be a good product but their customer service and warranty are terrible. Better, quicker service would have made all the difference in the world. Over the next few years I'll be purchasing a lot of lighting equipment but none of it will be Metz.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unbelievable Lousy Customer Service Update from my 8/18 post. As of Friday September 18th Metz warranty has been in possession of my 64AF-1 for eight weeks. Warranty will only tell me they are waiting for part(s) and my last two emails to Metz were ignored. Unbelievable lousy customer service, I will never purchase another Metz product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's almost perfect I love almost everything about this flash. It's powerful and has lots of handy features; like beeping when its ready, showing the useful range with your current setting and rotating the display when you rotate your camera. The menus are very intuitive and easy to use. I only have two cons. 1. The ON button is too sensitive. I turn it on by accident all the time. 2. The display menu resets too quickly. There might be a way to change that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flash The flash is solid built and feels really nice on my hand or on the camera. The touch screen is good but it is not as sensitive as I would like it to be. Metal hotshoe mount is always nice. The flash is equipped with functions. The zoom range is wide, from ultra wide-angle 12mm (diffuser) to telephoto 200mm. It has a mode for crop-sensor bodies but it does not work properly for my 50D. I guess it is because the 50D is too old, and it should work fine with the newer bodies. It has a nice secondary reflector (flash bulb) fixed on the lower part of the flash. Its job (or one of its jobs) is to supply direct light to the object while the main reflector is turned up or around for bouncing so that unwanted shadow could be avoided.Recharge is fast in my opinion while used with 4 rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries. One of the few things I do not like, in additional to the touch screen, is the print above the hotshoe mount for Can. I do not know if there is any reason not to write For Canon, but I think it would be much better with For Canon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Piecce of Equipment Even tho this flash unit has many different configuration options it is very easy to set the way you want it to function. The manual is set up well and answers most questions. My biggest concern is that there was no warranty papers shipped withn the package so I'm going to have to call BandH for that info.Sales person was very helpful and courteous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cadillac of the Metz shoe mounts. This is by far the top of the line for Metz in their shoe mount offering. Based on a Digital panel for control, and ease of use. Also works great with the Sto-Fen OM-HV58 Omni-Bounce unit. making the light output even and softer yet not cumbersome to use. I see this as where the future of shoe mount flash units is going in other brands as well.
