Two tilt drag settings allow you to adjust the head to match the needs of the shot, and the fixed pan settings provides you resistance for slow smooth pans. The aluminum legs feature a 10" triangular shaped center column that adds height while maintaining torsional stability. The spreaderless design and independent leg height adjustment allows you to use the legs on uneven surfaces without sufferening from wobble that ground level spreaders can cause. Four preset locking positions allow you to lower the legs to approx. 7.5" high or nearly to the ground with the optional ground level adapter.

Head
The fixed pan drag, and two settings for tilt drag allow you to tune the head to provide smooth moves when used used with optional cameras and accessories that weigh less than 11 pounds.
Dual panhandle rosettes allow you to mount the included panhandle on either side of the fluid head.
The included quick release plate mounts on the head, the quick release mechanism features a safety release mechanism that helps keep your gear secure.

Manfrotto Comes Through Again

I finally took the plunge and migrated my workflow to a DSLR based platform which means it's no longer necessary to lug around my old tripod... which was, a Manfrotto. The build quality, fit and finish that I like so much about my old set of sticks is very much replicated in this new unit. It's nice and light, BUT, heavy enough to support subtle panning and tilting without shifting. I was worried about initiating a move with the fluid head, but coming up against more resistance than the sticks could manage... but it's not the case. The hardware and leg locking security seem rock solid. The fluid head's motion is buttery. If I could improve one thing it would be to make the locking safety tab that sits behind the plate release out of metal, and to include some sort of throw-over locking hasp on it just for the old belt-and-suspenders treatment. Generally though, it seems a perfect mate to my Panasonic GH7.

So far I have used the tripod only a small amount. However, it appears to be a very nice tripod, and the fluid head moves smoothly, which is what I wanted for taking video. I do have one critcism -- the bubble level was put in a hard-to-see location, and seeing it from directly above is not possible. You have to look off vertical. As a result, getting a precise level will be difficult.

I have this kit, however I purchased it assembled and have never removed the MHXPRO-2W fluid head. When I tried today it doesn't appear to detach. Hoping someone can tell me if the head does in fact detach from the tripod? I don't want to keep trying and break it if it doesn't. Thanks!
It should be possible to detach the head from the tripod. However you will need to loosen or even remove screws that are holding the head to the tripod, it simply will not twist off.

Does this tripod have the RC2 rapid connect adapter and is it compatible with the Magpul M-Lok Tripod Adapter?
This fluid head features the MA200PL plate which is the same plate on their RC2 rapid connect adapter (BH#:MA323). According to Magpul, their M-Lok adapter is compatible with all of Manfrotto's RC2/Q2 interfaces so this tripod should work just fine with that adapter.

I have a Filmcity shoulder/tripod rig with matte box and counter weight and I have a Juicedlink preamp attached to it as well as my Canon 5D with an optical viewfinder attached to the camera. Is this tripod suitable for this weight? I know it 'officially' states a load capacity of 8.8lbs but typically that's under evaluated. My rig is 9.9lbs plus the Juicedlink box, camera, viewfinder (and whatever lens I have mounted). My Sunpak 7500TM tripod (with after market fluid head) is struggling with the weight a little (load capacity 6.6lbs) but has coped pretty well. Do you think this MF 190 tripod would be a good choice? Thanks...

OK, the legs have different angle settings, the most radical will put the tripod virtually horizontal as the third photo shows. This photo also shows a short stubby column, but this is not listed on the in the box list. What gives? How low can I actually put a camera with this tripod and head? 5 inches? 12 inches? The heighth of the column and the head?
17.5 TALL IS THE SHORTEST I CAN GET MINE. THAT'S TO THE TOP OF THE HEAD (BOTTOM OF THE CAMERA.)

Is the head arca swiss compatible? Looking for easy adding of different cameras with arca swiss base plates.
