Hoya EVO Antistatic Protector Filter Overview

The Hoya 77mm EVO Antistatic Protector Filter is a simple, clear filter designed for general protection for your lens. This optically clear filter does not affect the overall image quality while helping reduce dust, scratches, moisture, and other elements from damaging your lens.

The EVO antistatic coating on this filter helps to repel dust, as well as water, scratches, and stains, and aids in making the substrate easy to clean. Additionally, a 16-layer Super Multi-Coating helps to reduce surface reflections and ghosting for maintained contrast and clarity. The optical glass filter is set within a one-piece low-profile aluminum ring, which lessens the likelihood of vignetting if used on a wide-angle lens. The ring also features front threads for attaching additional filters or lens caps.

Optical glass construction and a 16-layer Super Multi-Coating provides 99.8% light transmission for maintained contrast and color fidelity.
EVO antistatic coating helps to repel dust and is also water-, stain-, and scratch-resistant. Additionally, this hardened coating is also easy to clean in order remove smudges or fingerprints.

Hoya EVO Antistatic Protector Filter Reviews

Lens protector: perfect!

Used for peace-of-mind lens protection. For typical photography, don't need color conversion filters attached to my digital cameras. Been fortunate enough not to have tested protector limits, including impact resistance on rest of camera equipment.

Maybe it works as should.

It's well made I use it as an always on protection. I shoot on the beach daily and needed an easy to clean filter. This wipes clean very easily that's my main reason for a filter.

Meets its needs...

Nothing glamorous; it's just a utilitarian lens protector. Fortunately, haven't had to test its effectiveness, particularly with dropped lens. Feel confident with lens protector in place.

I can barely see it, so I know it has good coatings

I've been using these clear filters on all my lenses of whatever size. Unfortunately I can't always find the exact size I need, so I have to substitute with another brand. Other brands are sometimes as good but not often. They fit well, and the coatings are so good that I can barely see the protector when it is mounted on the lens. The antistatic aspect seems to keep the filter cleaner too. I have not seen any impact on image quality. I prefer a clear filter rather than a UV filter in order to avoid any issues with color, relative to not using a filter at all. This way, my lens works at its best.

Good glass deserves excellent protection. It's much cheaper to replace a protective filter than replace an expensive piece of glass that you love! If I'd only . . .

If you have ever had an accident (tripod leg slipped) and your camera fell, this can be a lifesaver. Been there, done that. Saved the day. Plus you're cleaning the filter and not the glass in the lens. No dust, no sand, no sea spray.

Lint and dust free....

In addition to the protection of my expensive Pro glass, the anti-static coating really does keep dust, lint, fur, etc... off the filter, less time cleaning or worry about debris.

Excellent

Asked by: Calvin K.
Yes, the specification for the Sony Batis 18mm f/2.8 , says the filter size thread is 77mm. Also, the accessories for this lens show only 77mm filters https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1243591-REG/zeiss_2136_691_batis_18mm_f_2_8_lens.html

question

How good is it? Has anybody used it?
Asked by: Edwin V.
I have one on my Tokina 11-20 and it works fine. I chose it because of the coatings on each side as wide angle lenses can be prone to flair when shooting into or near the sun. I have other Hoya filters on other lenses that I am very pleased with. 52mm and 77mm.
