Mitakon Zhongyi MTKLTM2M43SE Overview

The M42 Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Lens Turbo Adapter Mark II from Mitakon allows M42 lenses to be mounted on Sony E-Mount APS-C format cameras, increasing the angle of view by 0.726x and the maximum aperture of the lens by 1 f-stop.

The four optical elements of the Lens Turbo adapter condense light from the M42 full frame lens and project it onto the camera's APS-C sensor allowing the sensor to capture all of the lens' transmitted light, negating the 1.5x crop factor and effectively producing full-frame coverage on non-full-frame sensors. A corresponding increase in the maximum aperture of 1 f-stop makes the lens more effective in low-light situations.

The Mark II version of the Lens Turbo features an improved design to produce sharper images. Its rectangular rear lens rests closer to the camera's sensor improving light transmission and an enhanced lens coating minimizes ghosting and flare. One extra-low dispersion (ED) lens element reduces aberrations for better delineated images. The adapter offers a sturdy metal construction and stainless steel mounts, it attaches to both camera and lens with little play and includes a front and rear protective cap. The Lens Turbo is a manual adapter offering no electronic communication between lens and camera.

The Lens Turbo adapters are compatible with APS-C sized sensors. Although they will physically fit the Sony full frame mirrorless cameras, the camera must be set to Crop Mode to fully support the speed booster's functions.

Mitakon Zhongyi MTKLTM2M43SE Reviews

Great below certain focal lengths on Sony a6000

It works great for adapting vintage lenses to aps-c. My 135mm m42 lens worked perfectly, but my 300mm lens had severe vignetting and was unusable with the Lens Turbo. I don't know if anything longer than 135mm would work. The adapter shipped with the m42 section misaligned, so the top of my lenses were not pointing upward until I adjusted it. I had to use a jeweler's screwdriver to loosen and adjust the silver lens mount section.

Works perfectly....bit of play on sony 6500 with tight focus

Dont give it a 5 stars cos there is a bit of play when you use old manual lenses on my sony 6500 and the turning of the focus ring is a bit tight....otherwise a perfect 5 stars...the optics are perfect....love it

question

Will this adapter work with a Sony FS5? The camera facing end of the adapter has a lens that extends farther than the mounting plane and looks like it will come in contact with the front glass of the sensor.
Asked by: Michael K.
Since the FS5 is Sony E mount, this lens adapter will be compatible.

question

Will this work with the Sony A7R II? I know both the NEX cameras and Alpha cameras are Sony E-mount but it's a known issue with the dumb adapters that some only work on the Sony NEX cameras and not for Sony Alpha cameras.
Asked by: Austin T.
It will work but that adapter is for APS-C sensor cameras and so it will produce a lot of vignette when used with the Sony A7R II.

question

Does this adapter allow m42 lenses to focus at infinity? Or is infinity focusing compromised turning the lenses to macro-like close focusing lenses?
Asked by: Anonymous
The adapter does have infinity focus but it does not work with every lens. Lenses with protrusion beyond the mount by 3mm or more will not work.

Hi there. Will this work with a Sony FS7? It looks like the rear lens protrudes quite far, and could rub against the FS7 sensor. Cheers
Asked by: Marc
We are not aware of an specific testing between this camera and the FS7. It should work, however we have not tested the configuration at this time.
