Avangard Optics AN-NVGM1PRO overview

  • 1Description

The NVGM1Pro 1x26 Night Vision Monocular from Avangard is a Generation 1 night device with a built-in infrared illuminator, a 40° wide angular field of view, an adjustable headband, and aluminum alloy housing. The infrared light source allows you to illuminate your target and execute your missions in complete darkness while you remain unseen. The viewing experience is enhanced with a 40° wide angle of view which allows you to see a field of 2103' at a distance of 1000 yards. If you want to increase the magnification, this device can be used with an optional 3.6x zoom lens. The angular field of view with this lens becomes 12°.

The monocular is attached to a headband via an adjustable adapter that enables you to use the device with either eye, and set a viewing angle and direction. To prevent the intensifying tube from burning out from accidental exposure to daylight, there is a built-in bright light cutoff function. The housing is made of aluminum alloy and has an IPX4 rating against splashing water.

    Avangard Optics AN-NVGM1PRO reviews

NVGM1Pro 1x26 Night Vision Monocular is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent unit at a decent price I had previously reviewed this item, but the review never posted. No problem. What we have here is a Gen 1 monocular, built in IR illuminator, and a headgear/mount. Keep in mind you are not going to see "Zero Dark Thirty" images with this unit. The image is a bit dimmer than what you're used to seeing on TV. The 26mm objective has a narrow field of view, but is not horrible. The intensifier tube in my unit is nearly artifact free (those little "dots" inherent in all tubes) which I am VERY happy with. It has focusing adjustments at the eyepiece as well as the objective, which do a very good job. It does not work very well at very low light levels, but the built in illuminator takes care of that up to about 100feet. I included 2 pictures; 1st one is of my shed at 60 feet with just my cell phone (on night settings). Second pic is same shed, same spot, but through the NV unit, with illuminator on. Not too bad! If the ambient light is high, full moon, street lights, etc., the range greatly increases. I have used them up to 200 yards with acceptable clarity. Looking up on a clear night can be interesting. These do not have a zoom option. You do not want any magnification if they are head mounted anyway, as it makes it very hard to walk. They have a bright light cut out, but from experience I will warn you not to try it. It will eventually cause damage to the intensifier tube. The unit runs on a single CR123 battery. The manual said it came with one but mine didn't. No problem as I'm up to my knees in 123's. I suggest buying a few re-chargables and charger. Never store your unit with the battery in it either. The included headgear is actually quite comfortable. The weight of the NVG is offset by an occipital strap. My eye tires out before my head/neck does. The only issue I have with it is getting it to fit my super huge noggin. If you wear a 7-3/4 or smaller you should be fine. The included carry bag is a basic no frills deal. It holds the headgear, NVG (detached only), as well as my batteries and charger. Bottom line: for the sale price you can't beat this. It does exactly what it's supposed to do. Just remember though, for the price you're not getting Mil-spec. either. I rated it for what it is; a low cost night vision monocular. It met and slightly exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps.
