The HP 4K Turnkey: Z820 2.7 GHz, Assimilate SCRATCH, 1650GB SSD, 4K I/O Card is bundled by B&H to provide a platform for color correction and grading of up to 4K resolution video using Assimilate SCRATCH. In addition to the enterprise-grade HP Z820 workstation with dual 2.7 GHz CPUs, it features a FUSiON-iO 1650GB high-performance SSD, plus the highly configurable BlueFish444 Epoch | 4K Supernova video I/O card. The software, SDD and I/O card are installed and tested in-house and the installation is backed by one year of technical support from B&H.
At the center of this turnkey is the HP Z820 workstation. This computer features dual Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 2.7 GHz twelve-core CPUs with 64GB (8 x 8) RAM. To drive displays and provide GPU acceleration for real-time performance in SRATCH or other software that supports parallel processing, it features the Nvidia Quadro K6000 graphics card with 12GB of RAM. For the OS and applications data there is a 512GB SSD drive plus four 3TB hard drives to store video and other large files. Meanwhile, for real-time 4K work on smaller segments of video the FUSiON-iO 1650GB high speed SSD comes installed as part of the turnkey. In addition to the internal drives, there is a Blu-ray burner to handle optical media and enable disc authoring. This version of the Z820 features air cooling to ensure the CPUs stay within a safe operating temperature range. It comes with Windows 8.1 Professional installed, and gives you the option to downgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
To ingest video or connect a broadcast SDI monitor, the turnkey features the BlueFish444 Epoch | 4K Supernova I/O card. The card features five BNC connectors, four of which are dedicated to SDI input or output at up to 3G bandwidth per connector. The fifth can be used for AES/EBU audio, reference (sync), timecode, or even act as an additional SDI input or output port. The card is highly configurable, able to deal with most resolutions and frame rates up to DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) at 60 fps when in 10-bit 4:2:2 and up to 30 fps in 10-bit 4:4:4. It can also be combined with a second 4K Supernova card to increase the total number of inputs/outputs or the total bandwidth.
